A lot of great coaches are not actively job hunting. They are teaching, coaching, raising families, and helping their current teams. If an opening only circulates through a small network, many of the best candidates never know it exists. That is the problem.

Football 904 Basketball 897 Volleyball 672 Multi-Sport & General Athletics 556 Soccer 401 Wrestling 344 Dance/Cheer 322 Most coaching openings still rely heavily on networks and word of mouth. The best candidates cannot apply for jobs they never see. Visibility matters. Post it.

Situationally, aside from the standard 2-min, 3rd down, RZ, etc you need to have a plan if you need a TD & are beyond Hail Mary range, etc. Disaster wise, have a plan if all QBs get hurt or your top 3 centers get inj

@AllenMeans Dont try to look like a genius. Focus on not looking like an idiot. Choose a system that your HC approves and focus all of your efforts into learning about and excelling at it (coaching points, drills, adjustments). Doing this sets guardrails and helps you channel your efforts.

@AllenMeans I’ll add one more point onto your list: Developing position coaches to coach the system the right way, especially if they are younger and newer to the profession.

@AllenMeans Keri it simple. Build an offense that matches your personnel. Run the darn ball. Less is more.

- Make sure they are speaking the same language as the head coach in terms of program building

- Evaluate the defense/offense post game and post season

- Make sure head coach, assistant coaches, and players are all on the same page with the current wee game plan
