Authorities and security forces in Ethiopia’s contested Western Tigray Zone are arbitrarily detaining ethnic Tigrayans and imposing a discriminatory system that severely restricts their movements, employment, and access to services.

Over 3 years after the Pretoria Agreement, Tigrayans face threats from every direction: a federal government preparing for war, a regional leadership not prioritizing the needs of its people, and an international community looking the other way. Did you see Uyghur forced labour with your own eyes? Did you experience it? Yes — Zhang Yabao, a Chinese police officer who supervised and enforced forced labour on the Uyghur population in Hotan Prefecture, has testified with firsthand experience and evidence, exposing how widespread and secretive Uyghur forced labour is in East Turkistan. Thank you, @derspiegel. This is a direct rebuttal to the CCP’s disinformation — and to those in Canada who continue to parrot its propaganda.

Despite the "crimes against humanity through enslavement" reached by the UN Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of slavery of Uyghurs who are still been subjected enforced labour , China’s behavior remains fundamentally unchanged. Instead, the government has simply refurbished and rebranded its rhetoric while continuing its atrocity crimes against Uyghurs in East Turkistan. Most recently, a former member of the Chinese police who participated in and implemented the state’s forced labor policies provided testimony in Germany, further exposing the ongoing nature of these practices. @M_Johnston1

📑 Beyond documenting repression, the paper offers a path forward. @MehmetTohti, Executive Director of the Uyghur Rights Advocacy Project (URAP), shows how international institutions, rights groups, and diaspora networks can strengthen nonviolent resistance through coordinated advocacy, solid documentation, and policy work. The research urges stronger safeguards, better activist protection, and a unified counter-disinformation narrative. These recommendations are articulated in his paper, “Transnational Repression and Uyghur Advocacy: Nonviolent Resistance Against Authoritarian Narratives of the People’s Republic of China”. 👉 Read the complete paper in the link below: 🌐 worldantiextremism.org/tdf2025-papers…

20-year sentencing of Jimmy Lai is not only tragic, it is a willful, intentional disregard of international law and China’s treaty obligations. It is a declaration of war against the free world. Unfortunately, there will be no real deterrence, punishment, or serious price for China to pay. China will get away with this horrific treatment of Jimmy Lai and its ongoing genocide against the Uyghurs.
Michael Chong 🇨🇦@MichaelChongMP

Hong Kong gave Jimmy Lai 20 years in prison simply for exercising rights & freedoms guaranteed in an international treaty, the Sino-British Joint Declaration. The sham trial & sentence are a violation of this treaty. On that basis, he should be immediately released. #cdnpoli

“Beijing is not a neutral counterweight. It is a systemic challenger working to reshape global rules in ways fundamentally hostile to Canadian interests, democratic governance, and human rights—from the mass repression of Uyghurs and Tibetansto the normalization of hostage diplomacy, political interference, and digital authoritarianism abroad”. Let us be very clear Chinese-made electric vehicles are, in effect, full-scale computers on wheels, powered by Chinese-made chips and integrated digital systems. These vehicles are designed to collect and transmit vast amounts of data, receive remote software updates from China, and remain continuously connected through Chinese satellite and communications infrastructure. This represents yet another pathway through which the Chinese Communist Party can extend its influence and control—posing serious risks to Canada’s digital sovereignty, data security, and long-term national autonomy. Any data we consent to provide to CCP-led China—an authoritarian state—will ultimately feed a hostile power and may come back to haunt us in the future.
