As expected, this “commission” glossed over a violent crackdown and the facts. I support the administration’s bilateral review and call for sustained pressure on Tanzania, including the release of Tundu Lissu. Waiting out scrutiny with a whitewashed report is a flawed strategy; it won’t restore credibility but rather deepens long-term risk and mistrust of the ruling regime.

Expanding this visa restriction policy is a good idea. Why should we open our borders to those who befriend our adversaries? The answer is, we shouldn't! Good work from the State Department.

Under the newly expanded policy, we have already taken action against 26 individuals in several countries.
