As an American who lives in Italy now, I feel I can speak on this topic. Is the food quality different in Italy versus the US? Yes, wildly different. I’ve noticed it in pretty much everything. The fruit and vegetables taste stronger and sweeter. Yes, zucchini, broccoli, potatoes and cauliflower have a sweetness that I never knew about. Meat tastes “meatier,” and carbs never ever bog me down. In the U.S. I’d eat a serving of pasta, or bread and feel like I was bloated or needed a nap. Here, I eat pasta, or pizza or bread and I feel nothing out of the ordinary. The eggs have a totally different consistency. They’re very “creamy.” Even the American Cheese here is so wildly different. It’s so creamy that it sticks to the wrapper, it’s a mess trying to get it out. Clearly, they don’t use the stabilizers we do in the U.S. Another difference is the salt and sugar levels in processed foods. Nothing, not even the cookies and cakes are too sweet. It took me a while to get used to the Heinz ketchup here, because it’s nowhere near as sweet as the U.S. product. And crunchy snacks are not overly salted. The wine here is on another level. Even the “cheap stuff” is really good. You rarely, if ever will wake up with a headache, even if you’ve over indulged. The olive oil here has this peppery almost slightly spicy finish to it. It’s so good, unlike anything in the U.S. and another thing I noticed, I haven’t eaten “greasy” food since I’ve been here. And yes, I order fried and batter-dipped foods, but nothing ever feels heavy or greasy and I can’t figure out why. Aside from the taste of food, my overall feeling is healthier. I know part of that is because I’m much more active, walking so much. But I honestly can’t recall the last time I felt “bloated” - that feeling hasn’t happened here, but in the U.S. I had that “bloat” feeling all the time. Also, I had a lot of stomach issues in the U.S. I remember always having heartburn or a churning stomach and chewing on TUMS. So much so, that I actually brought a huge container of them with me when I moved here. Oddly enough, I haven’t had one single tablet in almost 2 years. Don’t get me wrong, I think so much of the food in the US is amazing. I love recreating US-style food here for my international friends. Im proud of my American food culture. I just think we’ve been screwed over by weird seed splicing, creepy fillers and stabilizers, artificial junk, and dyes, among many other unhealthy things.

I am introducing a Constitutional Amendment to end Birthright Citizenship. Under current interpretations of American law, anyone born on American soil automatically becomes a U.S. citizen, regardless of whether the parent was here legally or not.  This is wrong and not at all the intent of those who wrote the 14th Amendment.  We are a country filled with immigrants, and legal immigration is valuable and should be protected. But we are also a country whose borders have been too open and our generosity exploited too often. President Trump has moved to seal our border from illegal immigrants more than any other president.   But we will have more to do. We need to make sure that only children born to legal residents of the U.S. are automatically citizens. I have supported protecting birthright citizenship from abuse since the beginning of my tenure in the Senate, when I cosponsored the Birthright Citizenship Act of 2011, and now I am proposing an amendment to protect United States citizenship in case the Supreme Court fails to address this issue correctly.

I just spent 2 incredible weeks in Italy and it is so frustrating to come back to the U.S… How is it possible @RobertKennedyJr that the Italian food supply is so vastly superior. I literally ate bread at every meal, dessert multiple times per day, and generally ate way more than I do in the U.S. Not once did I have acid reflux. Not one headache, no digestive problems, and I didn’t gain any weight. If I ate the same way in the U.S. (I used to at times) I would have gone through a full bottle of Tums and Advil just to get through the day… WHY does the U.S. allow glyphosate in wheat, high fructose corn syrup in food and who knows what in our milk products? The difference in quality of life in Italy vs the U.S. is staggering from their common sense (anti corporate) food regulation. WHY aren’t more people upset about this? The U.S. is the richest country in the world and we eat like one of the poorest.

This is another example showing how Barack Obama is one of the most divisive figures in American politics today. So many of our divisions were caused by the smug, demeaning and narrow-minded way he treats his opponents. Here, he pretends to not know the truth about the would-be assassin, although the facts of his left wing views were public hours before Obama’s tweet. It’s classic Obama - pretend to be conciliatory while he is the one who creates the divide. You would hope that Obama would condemn the left after the left tries to kill a President. But that’s too much to ask. Once again, Obama proves himself to be a classless divider of our country.

Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy. It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them – and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.

I would like to point to the President, his minions and his lemmings that the White House Correspondents' Dinner is a private event, not a government or presidential function. It is organized and hosted entirely by the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA), which is a private nonprofit organization independent of the White House. Even if there were a ballroom, it would not be hosted there. Can we stop with the stupid talking point now?

Many in the media are discussing how President Trump was “so remarkably calm” and “in control” through the events last night. That is the mark a great leader, and it defines who Donald Trump is. … I’ve spent a lot of time with him over the past several years, and he is at his strongest in times of crisis and turmoil. It is a primary reason why his time in office is so historic. Adding to that history, he has now survived a third assassination attempt. As fate would have it, on the day of the last attempt (Sept 15, 2024), Kelly and I had just arrived to meet with him at Mar-a-Lago, right after the Secret Service stopped another would-be assassin pointing a rifle through the bushes of the President’s golf course. They rushed the President back to safety at his residence, and we met and talked with him alone there for nearly 3 hours, with Susie Wiles and Hogan Gidley, until the “all clear” was given. We will never forget our conversation that day, and the strength and resolve of the man who would soon be reelected Commander-in-Chief. As he processed the event, I told him we were absolutely convinced that God had miraculously spared his life—once again, in view of the entire world—for an obvious purpose. It seemed to me then that a new realization had come upon our friend, that he had developed an even deeper sense of his place in his history, the importance of his legacy, and the divinely orchestrated responsibility he was being given. It has been my daily observation that since those jarring events at the end of the 2024 campaign, President Trump has been a changed man. He was already the toughest individual we know, but since then he has been even more deliberate and contemplative in his approach to our nation’s challenges. He speaks openly about the providence of God, and he understands, as did the Founders of our great nation who had endured so much in the trials and suffering of the American Revolution, the high price of our freedom. At the very end of our nation’s birth certificate 250 years ago, our forefathers solemnly proclaimed: “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.” Their extraordinary commitment to America’s cause—even at the risk of their own lives and possessions—was what allowed our country to form and flourish and become the most exceptional of all. Thankfully, that same commitment is now carried forward by our 45th & 47th President, who has endured the most unbelievable trials, accepted every risk, and works tirelessly every day to ensure that America is great once again. May God continue to protect and sustain him.

@washingtonpost Incompetence is the reason. DHS Secretary Mullin should have classified the event at the highest level of security which would trigger tighter operations. He failed to do that. The Trump government refuses to learn or follow bureaucratic rules, hence the systemic failures.

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner is an event by the WHCA, not the White House. Selling tickets is their main source of revenue. It’s attended by ~2.6K people. Trump’s Ballroom would fit 1K. It wouldn’t be hosted there anyway. So maybe shut up about it lol
