Happy antibiotic awareness week. Disclaimer: many viruses pictured, but remember antibiotics do not treat viruses! #USAAW24 #antibiotic

Definitely team daptomycin for OPAT. Unfortunately, sometimes the copays are still too high for our patients. Especially Medicare patients since Medicare doesn’t cover OPAT well.

Inspired by a trio of outstanding @MGHBWHIDFellows, I'm writing about the antibiotic we love to hate, and hate to love -- vancomycin. Very hard to justify it in the outpatient setting, where there are almost always safer and more convenient alternatives. blogs.jwatch.org/hiv-id-observa…

Nearly 2x as much treatment failure at 14 days when using cefdinir, compared to cephalexin which has substantially better bioavailability and urinary concentrations in lower UTIs. Makes sense! #downwithcefdinir

Cefdinir V🔥 Cephalexin in lower UTI 🆕️⚡️⚡️Small retrospective study @AJHPOfficial There were no significant differences in treatment failure at d7 or d14 between the agents Numerically higher rate of treatment failure with cefdinir #downwithcefdinir academic.oup.com/ajhp/advance-a…

Regular doses of tragedy and still responsible for 3x your normal workload? That was my 2020. Just like most of #IDTwitter. Talking about it was surprisingly therapeutic. Thanks @PaulSaxMD

Thanks to @MsSmallsO for highlighting our OPAT study at ASHP Midyear. @tayloreppp was the lead on this study looking at our OPAT program which showed reduced readmissions in patients discharged on vancomycin followed by a pharmacist in OPAT. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36714295/
