Our 2nd annual GES Winterfest was SNOW much fun!!! Students got to enjoy Winter games, bingo, & a Winter story. They learned about the Winter Olympics & how to make ice cream. K-2 got to design snowflakes with pattern blocks. 3-5 learned how to finger-weave. #GESCougars

Congrats to all of our 2nd Trimester award winners in academics, citizenship, and leadership. Also, a shout out goes out to Ms. Dewald’s 2nd grade class for claiming the GES attendance trophy for this trimester! #GESCougars

We had a wonderful celebration of our Veterans today at GES with songs, poems, and statements from some students. Each veteran in attendance was recognized. We ended the assembly with taps being played. Veterans were treated to refreshments afterward. 🇺🇸 #GESCougars

Today we had our 1st trimester awards assembly. Homerooms & learning support classrooms gave out 3 awards: Academic, Leadership, & Citizenship. Congrats to the award winners! Congrats to Miss Shonk’s 5th grade class for earning the 1st trimester attendance trophy! #GESCougars

Schools where adults like to work are typically good places for kids too!

Kindergarten & 3rd grade enjoyed their first buddy activity of the year today. The 3rd graders helped the Kindergarteners create a monster, & then they wrote about them in a monster manual. It’s going to be fun to watch these buddies bond throughout the school year! #GESCougars

There are lessons every educator learns that no college class ever covered — how to comfort a child who’s lived through trauma, how to keep showing up when compassion fatigue hits hard, how to stay steady when your own heart breaks for your students. These are the lessons of love, resilience, and humanity that only the classroom can teach.

@FixingEducation Was he actually arrested? To me it looks & sounds like the cops came to try to diffuse the situation, & the cuffs were used so he would stop throwing things & would calm down. I don’t agree that the cuffs are going to help calm him down, but we don’t know the whole situation.
