No, I am not confused at all. I never needed lessons to learn to write. In fact, ask most successful writers what they think of learning to “write.” I wrote my first manuscript when I was 17. It was filled with holes and it was a mess, but it was mine. The second one I did got an agent. I never worked at it. It flows. It *is* me. For others, where it is more difficult, why do I care if they wrote it or somebody else did? It is not me that wants to write it and cheated myself. What about someone with the best book idea ever? Do I care they can’t write like King? Or do I care about reading a great story? Seriously, this is going to tick a bunch of people off, but AI is changing it all, and it is going to empower great minds. You will see amazing books by a five year old. You can stay angry and make excuses, or we can change how we all think to get the best from all! •

I just failed a student for submitting an AI-written research paper, and she sent me an obviously AI-written email apologizing, asking if there is anything she can do to improve her grade. We are through the looking-glass, folks.

@FreePeople waited over 6 weeks for a refund of over £100 for a parcel you’ve emailed me to say you’ve received and the refund has been processed! Haven’t had a response from your customer service team in over 5 days! Absolutely disgusted by your lack of customer service.

Did I miss the memo??? Since the new year, three separate people told me I’m not a serious musician because I didn’t go to school in NYC. Well, specifically one institution. It’s a fine place/school. I have many friends who went there. Including some of my students. But…hey.

@eliflute @garrt A month is a luxurious ocean of time in these scenarios. But yes, letters are absolutely a hardship on applicants.

@garrt My DMA flute prof would agree to write them but never send. I found out because an HR rep called to let me. The writer insisted she mailed it (it was an email only). Later learned she’d criticized me in other people’s lessons for “only” giving her a month’s notice.

@garrt This is an underrated skill.
