Market in public #5: Social media results Posted on X, Threads, LinkedIn, and Facebook. I wasn't very active on any of them before launching. X and Threads (where I had zero following) gave me the least results. My exposure there is limited to people who don't type in the languages Unfumble supports. LinkedIn and Facebook worked better. I already had connections who speak my language. They understand the exact pain I'm solving. On Facebook, I commented in groups where people share what they're building. Same language communities. Most of my users so far came from LinkedIn and Facebook. Turns out language-specific communities matter more than follower count.

Market in public #4: Going where your users are My users are multilingual. They're not all in the usual tech spaces. So I searched and found DOU, a popular forum among Ukrainians. Used ChatGPT to write a post in Ukrainian. I couldn’t advertise directly, so I talked about using a deterministic approach with the Unfumble engine instead of AI hype. This has brought roughly 13 people to the website, and 1 of them downloaded the app! Sometimes you need to go outside the English-speaking bubble to find your actual users.

Building for Mac means competing with Apple's own apps and features. Your design has to be good enough that people believe it could ship with macOS. Your performance has to be fast enough that lag would feel like an obvious bug. Mac users has a habit to compare you to the OS itself.

Market in public #3: Reddit I'm not using this channel well yet. The challenge: most subreddits don't allow self-promotion. You need to talk about challenges or ask for advice, not pitch your product directly. Also, some require karma before you can post. Which means you need to comment and contribute before you can share anything. Someone actually bought the app because he saw a Reddit post of a listing website that Unfumble is part of, so I guess it works in mysterious ways.

When building with an LLM agent, sometimes, there’s this feeling we cannot match up our understanding of the project with the pace the LLM build (or rather generate code). We must fight this. At the same moment, take a deep breath, and try to build the mental model of the changes

Market in public #2: Cold outreach I've sent DMs and emails to tech blogs and influencers. Some replied. Most didn't. Nothing came out of it yet. I know it's a numbers game. I need to reach out to more editors and influencers who would actually use or appreciate the app. But cold outreach takes time and volume. Still figuring this one out.

@thdxr unfumble.app Switching language layouts by hand is a chore the OS never solved - the globe key is basically a manual gear shift. Unfumble makes it automatic.

@markproduct Build is just one part of the equation. There's another small part call Marketing. Currently - this is the bottleneck for a lot of people.

Trust me: You can build a million-dollar product with AI
