@thesamparr Disagree, you have to spend money on housing anyways. It’s not like you can divert the mortgage payments into S&P500 if you were renting. You’d just be paying another landlord’s property off instead..

A hill I will die on: Buying a a home is almost always not a great financial investment. yes, even taking into account leverage. looking at averages, investing in SP500 is more profitable (on average). and also, that's ok! buy because its a great emotional ivnestment.

So what's stopping it from happening? Political incompetence? A system too complex to even begin reforming? Are we going to keep taxing people more and more to plug the gap? What's the end game?

I don’t know how I’d reform the NHS model to improve the overall care and capacity, but I think everyone agrees that it needs to happen - it’s at its breaking point. And our visit yesterday clearly shows it’s possible.

The counter argument is the US model where medical care costs a fortune to the point where it can bankrupt you for a simple A&E visit. But maybe the choice isn’t binary: completely free, or US-level, out of control costs. The Middle East seems to have struck a good balance here?

@DavidOndrej1 If this post gets enough reach, statistically, it’s likely to be seen by someone who actually needs a doctor, didn’t go because of this post inspiring them to “think critically” instead, and then end up with something much more serious as a result.

avoid people who go to the doctor. sure, if you break your arm a doctor can help you fix it however, people who constantly visit the doctor for the smallest shit imaginable should be avoided why? those are the kind of people who cannot solve problems. they lack critical thinking & self-reliance. they are permanently stuck in toddler mode, wanting someone else to do everything for them. do not get into relationships with those people. do not go into business with those people. trust me.

A "British ISA" was a terrible idea when the Conservatives were thinking about it, and it remains a terrible idea today.
