Sure, I give it to ya, the govs changed a lot in like 99% of countries, and States were lucky enough they got to stay republic ever since their Civil War

Still, even with the latter one, you can find goverments going for longer than said quarter of millenia. Heck, San Marino has been pretty much very same republic for almost 1700 years.

Look into Byzantium, HRE, Roman Empire, Polish Commonwealth, Polish Kingdom, Mughal Empire, Ahemenid Empire... I can keep on naming
