@the_corvidae I think it isn't original terminology for insincere, but something that grew out of open access forums of old where people often went for technical help. You could have a user that talked frequently that was a "LARPer" in that they could make use of the correct language-

it’s funny how “LARPer” has become slang for someone being cynical and insincere when LARP is perhaps one of the most brutally purely sincere and earnest things a person can do
