@AltAssetsInc @bonjourdomain @stefanvonimhof @Travis_Jamison INTERESTING!! So curious how you evaluate if its a fit for your portfolio? eg: whiskey + equestrian is v different?

Can someone explain why this doesn't exist: A fund that does ONE thing: buys 10% of profitable, small businesses that are 2+ years old and reaps long-term dividends. 🧠 My thinking.. So, approx 67% of small and micro businesses in the UK are profitable. I couldn't actually find data on how many VC-backed businesses are proftable butttt we know directionally that it's very few. Imagine there was a fund that after 2-3 years of being in business (aka past the "survival stage") they bought 10% of that company. Late enough that the business is proven, but early enough that there's still LOTS of room for growth. For the founder it'd mean: - a little risk off the table (quicker reward than holding out for an *eventual* exit) - a bit of cash in the bank after likely not paying themselves much (eg: right now I'm looking at buying a home next year, so this would be attractive!) - but they still get majority control and ownership (independence! 💪 ) And for the fund it'd mean: - a *relatively* safe investment (business is proven, profitable, growing) - more reliable dividends VS crossing fingers for a billion $$ outcome - backing founders of calm, sustainable businesses that are powering local economies Even BETTER if the fund brings something like distribution power (eg: a strong way of amplifying) or network power (a strong audience). I know @shl does smth similar with @gumroad (eg: he bought 10% of @SmallBetsDotCom before acquiring from @dvassallo in full), and @calmfund did something adjacent.. but I haven't seen anyone put their stake in the ground and be like, yeah... small business are where it's AT!!! Let's discuss? 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿
