Hey Siggy @signalapp how do you defend this? Most “secure” messaging apps still rely on Apple’s push servers (APNs). That means: • Apple holds a device token for every user • Those tokens are tied directly to the “privacy app” you use • Governments can subpoena that data With that, devices can be woken on demand and network activity observed. Timing correlation can reveal your IP and approximate location. Even if messages are end-to-end encrypted, the push infrastructure isn’t. Encryption protects content. But infrastructure decisions can still expose metadata. Privacy isn’t just about what you encrypt. It’s about what you depend on.
