the value prop of getTransactionsForAddress (gTFA) is NOT the historical data – you can get that from RocksDB snapshots already
gTFA is an index
it's purpose is reduce dev time, reduce on-call work, and get your product to market faster
let's say you want wallet token history for a specific month
with raw data, you need to:
1. resolve the time range to epochs
2. fetch the 1B+ txs for those epochs
3. deserialize every tx
3. track ATA ownership
4. filter out unmatched txs (99%+)
5. parse & aggregate remaining transactions
that ends up being too slow for a single query – so you have to build a data pipeline, storage layer, and API
gTFA does this with a single query in under 50ms!

gPAv2 also lets you paginate across millions of accounts, and changedSinceSlot returns only what's changed since your last read

getProgramAccounts V2 has been battle-tested in prod for Helius users for a year:
- instant account lookups (<100ms for ~1MB response) powered by a custom-built RocksDB instance decoupled from Agave RPC
- fetch millions of accounts easily (yes, even all token accounts) via gPAv2 with pagination
- no need to re-fetch full data — changedSinceSlot returns only accounts modified since your last sync

Reading Solana has never been faster.
Our team has reduced latency 10x for our new (exclusive) gTFA method from 350ms to 30ms!
This method lets you scan tx history for a wallet by any time/slot range, including ATAs, and combines getSignaturesForAddress with getTxn

Re-worked the transaction storage layer from the ground up 2. Implemented our own rpc protocol (over tcp) for storage <-> proxy communication EU and APAC clusters will deploy next week. Enjoy!
