Fr. Dr. Charles Kitima joins the AMI plenary with a sobering message from Tanzania: justice and peace are inseparable from faith. Despite facing threats and violence, the Church remains a "prophetic witness" against the systematic violation of human rights and the exploitation of natural resources. We are here to serve the whole human person spiritually, socially, and economically. #AMI2026 #alternativestoriesofmining

Inside the Cathedral, the stories are already emerging. “Our resources are draining out before they even reach our people.” Lusungu Kumwenda Mangochi from the Evangelical Association of Malawi brings a powerful call for economic justice — naming corporate tax evasion and the often invisible costs of mining, including the violation of children’s rights to education in mining-affected communities. This is what Alternative Stories of Mining look like: voices speaking truth, demanding mining policies that place community welfare before multinational profit. 📍 St George’s Cathedral #AMI2026 #AlternativeStoriesOfMinIing

From lived experiences to collective action. #AMI2026 continues to amplify community voices and alternative stories of mining — centring people-led perspectives on justice and the energy transition. 📅 9–11 Feb 🔗 alternativeminingindaba.org/register

The doors of St George’s Cathedral are open. From across the continent, communities are gathering to reclaim the narrative. This isn’t a boardroom; it’s a sanctuary for the truth. #AMI2026 #alternativestoriesofmining
