@wanted4mogging I know a guy over there, some kind of tax collector or some shit. Derived great joy in repossessing homes from pensioners over minor unpaid tax bills. It’s something in the water over there.

i genuinely struggle to comprehend why the UK police are SO evil. like there is nothing good in these peoples' hearts, somehow they managed to find all the most despicable people in the country and put them all into this one position in society. you have to admire that efficiency

The left can’t reproduce the prodigal son story because they deny the home is worth returning to. The father is never right. The son is never wrong. There is no growth, no inner struggle, no coming to terms with the inevitable arc of the human condition. Just a holy war in the name of “progress”.

I think the rightist failure to make art (beyond institutions bias which of course is huge) is due to the breakdown of a crucial narrative: the wayward son who wants to come home. You can’t see yourself from the inside. Great art is necessarily made by people who wander away and see the tribe from a new angle. But now, every wanderer is induced to hate the hearth, to hate his home. In fact, he is encouraged to make the hatred of home his identity. And this destroys art, because it destroys distance. If what you are is “man who hates his home” then you never left home. Art is only ever advanced by people who love their home but don’t quite belong to it. Polarization has destroyed this.
eugyppius@eugyppius1

The right is full of people who hate cities, seethe at educational institutions, despise most art and architecture, cultivate a strange and stunted parochial nativism, and generally nourish a palette of self-limiting resentments that cede the left massive cultural dominance.

The GOP has a chance to hold Congress - probably will hold the Senate - because the country is so divided, and gerrymandering so effective, that genuine wave elections are improbable. If this were 1980 - the GOP would lose the 2026 midterms in a wipeout - and deserve it.

Everyone is either dumb, a foreigner, a criminal, incompetent, or all of the above. Tough sledding out here. Only reason I chose the trade I’m in is because it’s actually gate kept a bit and I was offered immediate ownership. Different stakes. That being said, I still wonder if law school would’ve been the better option 🤷‍♂️

I had actually never even considered that people think “go into the trades” means “work as laborer #17 for your entire career.” The goal, obviously, would be to work as an independent business owner, eventually. That’s the attraction. The trades are unique in that you have to be out on site, there isn’t all *that* much your boss provides that you can’t, and there’s more work to do than there are people to do it, so it’s possible to drum up business on your own. Nobody is imagining their kids on a job site making $67k year in year 17 when they give this advice. They’re picturing an independent contractor.
VB Knives@Empty_America

People of high ability who enter a trade specifically with the goal of becoming business owners frequently make a large amount of money. This has nothing all to do with the "average wage" of a employee plumber. These types often have some quirk that prevents office employment, such as being dyslexic, having minor criminal convictions, explosive tempers, etc.

@White_Janissary And if you are that sort of person working in the trades will make you wanna blow your shit smoove off because while you are intelligent, sober, and so on, absolutely no one else you have to work with will be and it will drive you insane

The unfortunate reality of “going into the trades” is that there’s actually a huge amount of money to be made as a tradesman, but you have to be intelligent, sober, personable, competent and driven—AKA the kind of person who would also be extremely successful in an office setting

@AlwaysMrWild_ @avidseries You import the best and leave the rest. I don't know why this is hard for most governments to do? The best should not be more than 10-20 million and they should not have a long term stay. And no tolerance to illegal immigration. It just simple. Except they are using it for votes

Tweet about how Indians in the US commit far less crime than native whites and outperform every group on income and educational attainment, and this is the type of seething Fantasyland stuff you'll reliably get in your replies: "All non-whites will be removed from the West."

The institutional racism against the white men of this country dwarfs the racism against any other class of people. It’s patently absurd that the men that actually founded and built this country have been forced to be subservient legally to literally the whole rest of the world, not to mention our previous slaves. Like, the fuck, just what the fuck. At this point I don’t want equality. I want the white man clearly back on top in the country we founded. Just as the Chinese man or Japanese man or Nigerian man should be and is explicitly on top of his country, so should the white man be on top in the US.

America was never colorblind. It wasn't colorblind prior to the civil rights legislation of the 60s, nor after it when affirmative action, set asides, explicit quotas, disparate impact and so on artificially expanded the black middle class and created a professional black upper middle class that would have barely existed if not for decades of racist college admissions. All the 60s did was replace one legal type of racism with another. By the 2010s, a whole infrastructure of rationalizations for this new racism had become embedded in nearly all of our opinion-shaping institutions, enforced by the threat and reality of cancellation of careers and social standing. The lowest-performing and most violent and dysfunctional section of our society was exalted and protected while the least violent and highest-performing sections were institutionally demonized and often left unprotected. At no point in all of this was America colorblind.
Alice Smith@TheAliceSmith

We came close to a truly colourblind culture - and the woke left screwed it up, on purpose.

The $100k h1b visa fee was just struck down by a federal court! It’s been so depressing the last 6 months when my Indian students asked “how do I get a data engineering job in the US?” And my answer basically, “you don’t because of Trump” These visa fees were another reason I had to visit Bangalore and Hyderabad this year. Because if we can’t bring the brains to America, the brains will continue building amazing things in India. And the phenomenal entrepreneurs and engineers I met in India were incredible. The world is balancing out. It’s amazing to see America still has its checks and balances necessary to keep it being a land of immigrants and new ideas! Today is one of the few days in a very long time that I say I’m proud to be an American and that my government is doing something right

I've seen a clear divide where conservatives think it's obvious Indians are terrible people and liberals and libertarians are puzzled by anti-Indian hate. This is why we look at data instead of feelings. And all the data says Indians are good. Conservatives are just racist.
