Why are @Tesco importing onions from New Zealand when there will be thousands of tonnes in UK farm stores? How can that be done with a 99p retail price ? ….. never mind carbon footprint of shipping 11700 miles This is fundamentally wrong & demonstrates just how broken our food system is Supermarkets support British farmers 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ……. yeah righto ! @agricontract @loosecollie @wheat_daddy @MartinDaubney

Council asked me to clear a ditch. Where has all the drainage rates and council tax money gone? When confronted they state "cut-backs" to which I replied we've just had a big cutback in the recent budget. Also environ survey required for planning app but not ditch clearing?

This is very sad. Smithfield Market set to close after almost 800 years City of London have ditched plans to relocate it to Dagenham. They want to use the old site for “mixed use cultural development”, whatever that means. France would never do this thetimes.com/article/989b12…

Today, thousands upon thousands of farmers & associated industries came together to protest against a budget that inhibits growth & has the capability to impact the farming community for generations. It was a show of unity that I'd not experienced before. It was carried out in a civil & organised way & I've never been more proud to be part of this industry. It was just the start, it will become yesterday's news if we can't keep the pressure on. This isn't just about APR/BPR. This is about a budget that behind APR quietly undermines the bare bones of UK Agriculture & UK business as whole. The rise in NI, the carbon tax on fertiliser, the double cab pickup tax, the dramatic drop of Delinked payments & the stalled/non existent roll out of SFI 24. Not being able to march to Westminster because of the unexpected volume of attendees is a shame & seems like a missed opportunity. That said it feels like an important day & I'm glad I was here.

I’ll be travelling to London tomorrow with my dad and my son to attend the farmers demonstration, did my dad, widower (86), really work so hard to lose 20% of what he worked so hard to grow, my son (15) is determined to farm & wants to know he did his bit to fight for his future
