Now I'm two months from the wedding, and my entire bridal party is "gently suggesting" I find something more "classic." My mother-in-law offered to buy me a "proper" dress from David's Bridal. But when I put this on, I see my grandmother's garden, her stories about village celebrations, the culture she left behind when she immigrated. Yes, it's not a traditional white gown. Yes, people might whisper. But isn't a wedding dress supposed to make you feel like the truest version of yourself? I'm torn between keeping peace and keeping this dress that makes my heart sing every time I look at those embroidered birds

Brian Rose described the Trojan War as one small skirmish among many regional conflicts in the area & it’s simply the one that got famous. Am I remembering that right?

There is no evidence for the Trojan War. It's a myth, not a historical event Was there a city of Troy? Sure, we've always known that. Alexander the Great visited as did Augustus Caesar. It had a Medieval bishop Just because NYC exists doesn't mean Spiderman is real

@shannonrwatts Gulf coast is all transplanted Midwesterners and Canadians - we all just got on I-75 and drove till it looked nice. Everyone I know here is from OH/IN/PA/MI & they’re cheerful because the sunshine finally lifted their seasonal depression.

I’ve lived in 10 states and I have never met friendlier, happier people than on the West Coast of Florida. It’s nuts. It’s like Southern hospitality meets Midwest nice.

@Pops__o You can practice with a 5-minute test run while you’re at home to see if it works & what steps your oven needs, but almost every oven made since the 70s has this feature. It’s great. We’ve come home to hot spanakopita, stew, casseroles, you could even do baked apples!

Exciting day! When I left for work, for the first time in my 49 years of life, I set my washing machine to come on in 7hrs so it’d be finished when I got home. I shared this excitement with my work colleagues, who are anxiously waiting until Monday to find out if it worked.

@audrawrongspeak Don’t wear a baby & lean over a hot stove. You can baby-wear while doing prep like chopping, washing, mixing, etc. but infants are squirmy & heat rises, so put your baby down for that part.

I’m actually scared because I don’t have any postpartum meals prepped…should I? Can’t I just wear my baby while I cook when they’re super small? Or will I be so tired I screw up the food I’m making? I want to know what you all think.
