The Talmud is not law, but rather a large discussion where every word and dissent matters. Less direct

At roughly age ten I would often read modest length books in a single sitting before I went to bed. All you have to do as a parent is create an expectation that your child will read. Kids are imaginative and they are primed to love reading.
