Instead of pushing for a reduction to enable more access from young people, this failed administration keeps increasing the chances of people abandoning the whole thing as a result of the hike in payment. They went after a hike in tuition fee for federal varsities, now they have gone after the very process that will enable young people even succeed to such institutions. Wicked and heartless administration.

Dear Gov. Alex Otti, @alexottiofr , this is the current state of the sole library in Umuahia your state capital just opposite the office of the secretary to the state government by bank road, Umuahia, Abia State. Firstly, the building looks like it will collapse in no time. Secondly, the state of the environment is unworthy and undeserving of any citizen of the state to make use of, how much more utilize for their academic, social, career or even human growth. The building lacks power supply, the books are so dusty, extremely old and terribly unkept despite the throng of staffs stuck there amidst an environment covered in bushes. This institution you see charges a thousand naira as registration fee for users to be able to access such a place in its deplorable condition. In any moral society, the negative state of its centers that builds the mind and helps inculcate a reading culture and growth among all and sundry is a society that has failed the citizenry. This library should be declared a state of emergency as it needs serious renovations and falls short of a standard were any devoted citizen should access, as their rights may be susceptible to violation. A public space ought not to be in this state. @alexottiofr in your goodwill in pursuing urbanization and speedy economic growth in Abia, i appeal to you to look into this institution and help restore its fallen dignity. No library anywhere should be in such condition and accessible to members of the public. It is unacceptable. Abians deserve better. @SaharaReporters

The rights of Internally Displaced Persons is constantly being neglected as the years go by. Why is that? The status of this vulnerable population has become normalized as a result of the recurrent insecurity plaguing the country that continue to displace thousands from their homes in the Northern and middle belt region. But do #internallyDisplacedPersons have any legal protection from our laws? The answer is yes. Aside the constitution, Nigeria domesticated the African union convention for the protection and assistance of #InternallyDisplacedPersons earlier this year that gives this vulnerable group the protection and guaranteed basic rights of which has constantly remained violable with the present administration neglect. But is that enough in terms of protection if this said regional law do not provide visible efficacy to their rights? The truth is, we have a role to play as a society in bringing this vulnerable group predicament before limelight. The state of living for IDPs is nothing short of degrading. Human rights to food, social amenities, livelihood opportunities and even a decent place to live remains an illusion for this vulnerable population. The recently domesticated convention removes every discretionary and emergency aids benefits for #IDPs and enables them to having legally guaranteed rights. This directly places the government's responsibility as crucial. They are no longer to be at the mercy of underfunded NGOs. @officialABAT In any modern moral society, a country is always the reflection of how it treats its vulnerable groups. We can not continue the visible neglect that this your present administration have subjected #InternallyDisplacedPersons to as a result of bad governance. The rights of #IDPs are human rights. They deserve better.

This hot take has got social media talking. 😳 Some ladies say a man losing his mother is a dealbreaker because they want a mother-in-law, while others say walking away because of family health history is a personal choice. 👀 What’s your take? 🤔👇

It is a rarity to see a government whose decisions & policies keep destroying the lives and livelihood of its citizenry and they still constitute efforts towards making more of that. This administration has gone after federal institutions fees by carrying out an outrageous hike on them. It is not enough. They have now gone after the registration fees for WAEC & NECO with an 82 percent hike. The question we should ask is this. Of what value is this policy going to have in the already 220 million population living in multi dimensional poverty? The campaign for the right to education is not limited to the guarantee of that right. Impediment such as cost that will enable the fulfilment of that right must be borne by the government or subsidized rate effected. @officialABAT, is your administration bent on disuading young people from pursuing their dreams by this hike? Of what value will it bring for vulnerable groups who will be hit the most like Internally displaced youths and children if they cannot afford to further their dreams and ambitions? @officialABAT do you intend leaving our young people in the alleged controversial dilemma at which your academic qualifications reduced you to? This policy is unreasonable and out of touch with the realities of the present Country. We will not allow it to succeed. #TinubuMustGo #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria

Stop the gaslight sir. They have a religion and that is the same infamous religion of peace at which both the terrorists and the ordinary citizens in the region practice. If they were not muslims, why would an administration that devoted enormous resources to fight them end up rehabilitating them into the very society because they decided the next morning they dont want to kill and kidnap again.

FG Increases WAEC, NECO Examination Fee From N27,500 to N50,000 for 2027 The Federal Government has approved a new examination fee of N50,000 for candidates sitting the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE), with the new rate taking effect from 2027. The approval was contained in a June 18 statement signed by Adeniji Ibrahim, Director of Senior Secondary Education at the Federal Ministry of Education. It followed a request by WAEC for an upward review of the SSCE registration fee. The new fee represents an 82% increase from the current N27,500 charged per candidate. According to Ibrahim, the decision was reached after a March 31, 2026 meeting between the Minister of Education and examination bodies, where the need to review examination fees was discussed. He said the minister also directed both WAEC and NECO to adopt a uniform examination fee. “You may recall that at a meeting of examination bodies held with the honourable minister of education on 31 March, 2026, where the need for upward review of examination fees was discussed, the honourable minister directed that WAEC and NECO should adopt a uniform fee for the conduct of WAEC and NECO SSCE,” the statement read. It added, “Consequently, I am directed to convey the honourable minister of education’s approval of the sum of fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00) only, as the new examination fee per candidate, with effect from NECO SSCE (Internal), 2027.” The ministry said the directive should be communicated to all relevant stakeholders.

All the recent gallant efforts of our army has been constantly happening at the same time which should propel a crucial question? Why have they not been active all these while in doing their actual jobs?It is not easy but its questionable now. No one should use security efforts as campaign strategy or farm for accolades. It is your duty simpliciter.

I honestly do not understand the individuals who participate in this distasteful conduct as stealing. This is somebody's sweat and blood at which they use to eat and you commit something of this manner. Is it that these thieves are not aware that one day their luck will always run out. Shame.

We were delighted to receive the Executive Management of Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc, led by the Group Chief Executive Mr. Chuma Nwokeocha, at my office today. Our discussions centred on strategic areas of collaboration, including infrastructure financing, SME banking, housing finance, agro-industrial development, capital market solutions, and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) enhancement. These partnerships are critical to our vision of building a stronger, more prosperous Abia. I highlighted key priority projects such as the Abia Medical City and the proposed Obeaku Sea Port, noting that both present significant opportunities for impactful public-private partnerships. We have agreed to deepen our engagements through follow-up technical discussions to identify practical areas of collaboration. I commend Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc for bringing concrete partnership proposals and for its Corporate Social Responsibility intervention in rehabilitating a school in Abia State. We encourage more private sector institutions to join us in advancing sustainable development across the State. I appreciate Mr. Chuma Nwokeocha for his kind words on our administration and for affirming that Stanbic IBTC chose Abia because of our shared values of good governance, and commitment to improving the lives of our people. Together, through purposeful collaboration between government and the private sector, we will continue to attract investments, create opportunities, strengthen our economy, and deliver lasting prosperity for Ndị Abia.
