This is what misogyny looks like in real life violence, lifelong trauma, & irreversible harm. Comparing that to misandry ignores the dynamics at play. If there’s an equivalent pattern of harm caused by misandry, show it. Otherwise, let’s stop pretending they’re the same.

Noelia Castillo was brutally gang-raped in 2022 by her ex-boyfriend and three other men – then jumped from a fifth-floor building in a suicide bid that left her paraplegic from the waist down, in constant unbearable neuropathic pain, incontinent and wheelchair-bound. She begged for assisted dying under Spain’s law; father fought it all the way to the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court and European Court of Human Rights, claiming mental health issues. Every appeal rejected. She dies TODAY at her Catalan care home. “I just want to stop suffering,” she said. A young life destroyed.

When I had my first baby in LUTH in 2003, the doctor walked in confidently to sew up my episiotomy without any lidocaine. I closed my legs and told him it was not happening. He got angry. That this is something he does everyday and it is not as big a deal as I was making it. I refused STILL.
When he saw how stubborn I was about it, he then said they didn't have any. I got my mum to go and buy; waited a while and then got sutured later.
Apparently, it is a common practice even in Nigerian government hospitals. Lots of people said they were told it was not necessary. I think it is a barbaric practice and doctors who do it should be ashamed of themselves.
Many women consent because they think the doctor knows best. Going through so much pain immediately after vaginal birth should be outlawed.

I love women who make things happen, who grow and learn from their mistakes. Grace was a character I rooted for throughout!
And we get a happy ending too. Finally!
