If you liked my essay about Hausa names then you should read this where I wrote about how Indian films became so popular in northern Nigeria, its effect on Hausa films, its influence on Muslim weddings in the north and its connection to Hausa novels sometimes called soyayya novels. I'm putting the final thoughts to my collection of poems. 'Liturgies' will be released soon. Very excited about the 40 poems on life sanctuaries.

His photo, in repose, in Ibadan last week transported a chill to the spine. Prof Biodun Jeyifo was not made for silence, as he seemed in that terminal state in his casket. Only the first days of this year.., we gathered at Muson Centre to serenade him. thenationonlineng.net/a-secular-prie…

In honour of my doctoral supervisor, Prof Biodun Jeyifo, who was laid to rest this week in Ibadan, Nigeria, his favourite quotation. It used to be on his door, goes on mine now: "So distribution should undo excess, / And each man have enough." (King Lear, Act 4, Scene 1).
