I can hardly believe they're real! These Mediterranean carnivorous sponges have certainly come a long way and seem to be thriving in our aquarium. They've grown quite a lot! Here's hoping they will live long and happilly🤞

Why do many marine herbivores prefer to eat fleshy algae over #coralline algae? It's not due to differences in #caloric content, as previously thought! Congrats to @habanereo (Haupt lab, @CMEP_csumb & invert ecology lab, @MLMLmarinesci) on publishing this @MEPS_IR article.

@Bigfin_Squidney tracked the state of the shipping container (like rust bubbles in the paint), and the animals that colonized it (like pectinid scallops, shown below), from when it was initially found in 2004 and in 4 subsequent visits over the past 17 years.
