I use my husband's surname informally - people at church & the kids' school know me as Cosgrove - but in 95% of my life I'm still Heather Ryan & all my official ID says Heather Ryan. I'm lucky enough to be quite well known professionally and I'm so glad I didn't change my name.

I know it’s a cat that is missing, not a human, but this is so horrible. We have searched everywhere, asked neighbours and posted on SoMe. Ugh, we will keep looking and just have to wait. Remie is showing his sadness with showing the floof 😂

Happy birthday to me… Today I turn 43. I’ve never really been one for birthdays. But I do see them as a moment to pause — to reflect. So much has happened in the past year. I think of the innocent Palestinian children and civilians who were killed by the Israeli military who will never see another birthday because their lives were brutally ended. I think of those who died by suicide — not because they were weak, but because they were overwhelmed and they didn’t have the support and care that they needed and deserved. And I know how easily that could have been me. The truth is, I’ve had those dark thoughts. I’ve stared into the bottomless abyss and almost didn’t come back. Not because I lacked strength — but because the burden was too heavy. Maybe the only difference is… at the very moment I felt like giving up, I had just enough fight in me to hold on. This past week has been the hardest of my professional life. My character and integrity have been attacked. And while I know the truth is on my side — and that I have the evidence to clear my name — it still shakes you. It still hurts. But I’m still here. I chose life. I choose it again today. And for that, I am grateful: Grateful to God. Grateful to my family, friends, and community. Grateful that my heart keeps beating, that I keep healing, that I still have more to give. So thank you — to each of you who reminded me that I’m not alone. I’ll keep smiling. I’ll keep growing. I’ll keep sharing. Protect your minds. Protect your hearts. With love, Ahmed
