Ask yourself a question. Do we really want to be be the sort of society that's got endless money to cut taxes for billionaires but "can't afford" decent Social Security benefits for our elderly?

The Readiatrician- not here anymore
I said goodbye to a patient a few years ago. She didn’t die, she just got old. I treat patients to age 21 and they move on. When they do, I joke, “well, I did my job! I kept you alive until adulthood!” With this kid, it was not a joke. 1/

The very concept of libraries is radical: publicly funded spaces that provide access to information, resources and story w/o the expectation of a transaction - which makes them radically important. Our world needs (radical) librarians more than ever.

Loved this quote from Jason Reynolds: “Librarians are the rebels of the school. They realize that everything belongs on the shelf, even if they don’t agree with it…I would argue that librarians are working as anti-racists. It’s embedded into who you are as librarians.”

When Chang’e-5 comes back to Earth with lunar samples it’ll come in hot, traveling at about 11 kilometers per second. The spacecraft will have to perform a “skip reentry,” bouncing off the atmosphere once to slow down before plummeting to a landing. (via @exploreplanets)
