Today, a generation’s dreams, hopes, and future are on hold due to war, violence, famine, and mass displacement. Let’s unify & stand in solidarity to ensure that Ethiopia has lasting peace, reconciliation, and democracy. I will always be a partner in this fight.

As a child, I had to flee Ethiopia and separated from my mom all my life due to oppression and ongoing violence. A tragedy many children are also experiencing today.

The fourth and final statute we invoke for referral is Title 18 Section 2383. This statute applies to anyone, who incites, assists, or engages in insurrection against the United States, and anyone who “gives aid or comfort” to an insurrection.

Today is an important day for our democracy. As a nation, we are sending a clear message to those who want to undermine our constitutional democracy and disrupt the peaceful transfer of power. #January6thCommitteeHearings

As Minnesotans, we have to lead with values dedicated to the protection of human rights both at home and abroad. I appreciated my conversation with @BettyMcCollum04 on the current issue impacting not only those in Ethiopia but also community members in our district.
