@jegaevi There are too many books and not every one is going to resonate, so putting down a book that doesn't work is going to free up much needed time for those that do. That said I think people should read books that don't support ones view to broaden it.

@Amaranth_Bell At least 50% of the people on here, if that is what they are, recycle the same posts over and over ad nauseam.

After a break from Twitter, seeing the same posts I did before. Is this thing on repeat?

Reading books is a wonderful experience. I get to experience different worlds, different realities and perspectives and discover new views.

My daughter didn't think one 15 (7.5x2) km round trip on a bike🚴‍♂️ was enough for me today. So, she left her unicorn purse backpack at the playground. Guess who did another 15 km round trip🚴‍♂️. Only this time this guy was wearing this cute accessory on the way back.🤣

Alright. Your job is to give a new author the WORST advice possible. What do you tell them?

@CaffeinatedLiha Can't say I know it. I've had books I couldn't get into and it doesn't matter that others like it if you can't connect to it. There are many other wonderful books and we have limited time for it all.

I don't think there's anything more frustrating than not being able to get into a book. Especially when the book is one everyone loves.

@simonmaechling HI, physician-scientist here (only use Twitter for writing-related stuff). Glad you're here and promoting science.

It’s a rough time to be a scientist. Emotion goes viral. Evidence gets buried. I’m a PhD chemist. Human. I’m tired of pretending risk and hazard are the same thing. If you value data over drama, you’re in the right place. Drop a “Hi” if you’re human too.

@ofthevolsci I think a list is great, especially with comments - I started writing come comments down about the books I've read in a notebook, just don't want it to become just a statistics for me

@Amaranth_Bell I tend to avoid looking at stats until the end of the month and then I enjoy the surprise of it, otherwise the tracking stresses me out😂 I wish Storygraph didn't tell you how much you've read in a year right in your profile, because I do like having a list of what I've read

While I admire ppl who read many books in a year and are able to keep track of it, I'm going to consciously not keep track of how much I read. I firmly believe we try to track too much.
