Broadcasters mixed religious verses with crude claims that Jews plotted world domination, urging listeners to rise up and fight. It was relentless, designed to feel familiar like a sermon from a trusted voice. You could hear it everywhere. In Cairo tea houses, Baghdad cafés, private homes across the region. Men gathered round crackling radios after work, families listened in the evenings, and the words sank in deep. American monitors at the time noted how these short-wave signals reached far into North Africa and the Levant, turning everyday spaces into hubs for Nazi ideas. It was not some fringe signal. This was the most potent source of Nazi ideology the region had ever known, reaching ordinary people who had no other way of hearing what was happening in the wider war. The station did not work alone. Nazi Germany forged direct alliances with key Arab leaders to amplify the message. The most prominent was Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, an influential Arab nationalist and Muslim religious figure. He met Hitler in Berlin in November 1941, sought a formal pact against the Jews and the Allies, and then lived there as a guest of the regime. From Zeesen itself, the Mufti broadcast his own fiery calls, recruiting Muslims for Nazi units like the Bosnian SS division and helping stir unrest back home. They turned radio propaganda into coordinated action, linking Berlin’s hate machine straight to Arab streets. One regular listener stands out. Ayatollah Khomeini, then still a young mullah, tuned in faithfully. He was far from alone. The station did not just entertain or inform. It worked quietly, steadily, to plant ideas that would outlast the war itself. When the broadcasts finally fell silent in April 1945, the damage was already done. Radio Zeesen had shown how hate could travel thousands of miles, slip into daily life, and make extremism feel like common sense. Those alliances with figures like the Mufti left a mark too, with some of the same anti-Jewish tropes and conspiracy thinking echoing in parts of Arab political culture long after the guns fell silent. It wasn’t loud bombs or marching armies. It was voices on the radio, speaking a language people trusted, and changing minds one broadcast at a time. Significant elements of Nazi Germany’s influence on the Middle East have remained until today. This affects current conflicts in the region. Propaganda which till this day has twisted feeble minds. The answer is very simple and is imbedded into the Islamic ideology that says that once a land is conquered by a muslim army or falls under Islamic control by any means, that land becomes islamic land forever. Furthermore their religious ideology says that the last day won’t come until the muslims kill the Jews and the Jews will be hiding behind rocks and trees and those rocks and trees will speak to the muslims and say: “oh muslim a Jew is hiding behind me, come and kill him”. So seeing as the Jews kicks the muslims butts ever since 1948 without hesitation and success, the muslims realize that they can’t destroy the Jews so easily and therefore their last day won’t come.
