I upset the Orthobros on here when I posted that the Wilsons aren’t Christian. They said “how dare you declare whether or not someone is a Christian!” Here is my response (watch til the end for the most ironic part of all of this): Scripture itself tells us that it is OBVIOUS who is saved and that we can discern who is and who is not a child of God. “By this the children of God and the children of the devil are OBVIOUS: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother and sister.” 1 John 3:10 Yes, Christians will still continue to sin, as Romans 7 tell us. Sanctification is certainly messy, there’s no denying that. But someone who has been supernaturally made new by the Holy Spirit will have a real heart change. Regeneration is not an inconsequential experience. It will be obvious to people. The supernatural work of the Holy Spirit is a powerful one. Someone who is made a child of God will bear the family resemblance. No one can be born again and continue to comfortably stay in the mud with the pigs. They might occasionally still fall into the mud, they might still have dirt on their clothes even after they get up, but they will hate it when they do and will live in a humble manner before God crying “have mercy on me, a sinner.” They will pursue righteousness and have a deep deep love for others. And when they are confronted about their sin by others, they repent. So yes, we can look at someone living in a hateful unrighteous arrogant manner for years on end, even after being confronted about it, and determine that they are not of the Lord.

People can occupy a ton of different positions whether or not they believe in moral facts. It's the laziest, most 20 IQ high school Christian take to go "oh, this guy doesn't believe in moral facts, therefor everything is arbitrary and trivial and they can believe in anything!!!"

For instance if your questions can be boiled down to descriptive facts, then we can answer those questions, without any moral debates.

If you look at the world that means nothing a society agrees to can be truly be good or evil, just what works for that society.

@CWonderGM @Enpapchapado @JonathanRueb @TheOmniLiberal I dont have a simple answer to that given that I dont think moral realism is true, so there is a complex set of things that outlines how and why we make certain laws and those laws outline what behavior is considered to be okay in a given society.

In other words, “The Bible shows me things about myself and other people’s sins that I really don’t like. So instead of repenting and calling others to repent, I would rather throw out those scriptures altogether.” There, fixed it for you. 😂 🤦‍♂️

@CWonderGM @Enpapchapado @JonathanRueb @TheOmniLiberal The whole point was to establish that persuasion and abiding by certain norms (like what you need to be okay with or if you can criticize others or not) is a seperate and orthogonal issue to the moral realism vs anti-realism discourse.

None of that is persuasive to most people, what that psycho would care about is the consequence and punishment, but that can be given under moral antirealism as well.

Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed multiple millennia ago but the principalities are unfortunately still alive and well. You can destroy the society but not the sociology they built it on.
