Think a Kayvon Thibodeaux trade is a possibility this weekend so want to get my thoughts out there -Main thought is that the Giants need to either shit or get off the pot. He's not going to be cheaper or drastically change as a player over the next year. The number to sign him will be uncomfortable when Travon Walker got $27M per year. -The reason to trade him or extend him is stronger now with Dexter Lawrence gone. -The Dexter Lawrence trade shows a team that is likely to struggle in 2026 and keeping a 3rd edge who you're not going to re-sign brings you little value and you should trade him for whatever you can get within reason -The reason to extend him is that eventually you're going to have to sign someone more than what you want to. Not paying him would mean no real contracts for 3 straight Giants draft classes (2021-23). Keep your edge strength strong while you have so much future cap flexibility. This team is full of weaknesses, don't weaken a strength Again, the Giants should do whatever they plan for Kayvon this offseason. Waiting doesn't add anything. He's not going to change a ton as a player but he is capable of a great statistical season that raises his value. I've landed on extending him. You have a rookie QB contract and nobody coming up for a big immediate extension. Dexter Lawrence's contract off the books is found money. Use it.

Schoen is obviously a frequent source for Breer so a WR “in play at 5” is notable, but Schoen has frequently cited competitiveness as *the* trait he covets in WRs (S Smith, Nabers) and this same article notes, re Tyson, “there are questions, though, on how tough he plays.” 🤔

One thing I noticed about Baltimore over the last two decades (while Harbaugh was there) - they did not pursue or have big time talent at DT. They got by on scheme and role players and pursued top talent at other positions
Since Harbaugh became HC in 2008, they drafted a DT 12 times.

I believe Joe Schoen is set to become the first GM in NFL history to have 2 separate drafts w/ multiple top-10 picks for the same franchise

Culture setting trade for John Harbaugh dealing Dexter Lawrence to Cincy. He didn't back down to a soon to be 29-year DT who has played 7 seasons, wanted a new contract coming off a 0.5 sack season. Downside: Big hole in
middle of d-line. I would not be surprised if @Giants trade down from #10 for more draft capital if there is a buyer in top 20.

I agree its about money. He wants a new deal and no real offer has been made. I'm sure that makes things more personal on top of frustrations of losing + a GM the lockerroom clearly hates

I simply just want to keep Dexter Lawrence. You hit the jackpot with the Odell trade in getting Dexter Lawrence. Don’t want to bet on it again. I think he’s got a lot of good years left.

What helps Lawrence’s trade value, aside from his status as a premier player: It’s a weaker DT draft class. Teams that need an upgrade will likely jump on this.

Not much meat in Schoe’s pre-draft presser. He just spoke a few weeks ago and has done this presser enough to kind of know the script.
