A High Wind Warning has been issued for Friday as a potent storm system brings strong winds across the region. Southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph Friday morning will become west by the afternoon, with gusts of 50 to 60 mph expected.

Light intermittent snow showers will continue across the area today with limited accumulations and impacts through this afternoon. Snow will increase in intensity this evening through Monday. Several inches of snow are expected and may allow for a hazardous Monday morning commute

The Lorain County Sheriff has reduced the Snow Emergency to a Level 1. Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously. The County Township Parking Ban remains in place to allow our snowplows to pass.

❄️ Winter Weather Closure Notice ❄️ Due to ongoing winter weather conditions, the Amherst Exempted Village Schools will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026 for the safety of students, staff, and families. All after-school activities are canceled.

10 PM: Widespread snow has ended across most of the area, but lake effect snow will continue overnight and into Monday. Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect for NE OH and NW PA. Roadways outside of the warning will likely remain snow-covered and slippery into Monday.

A major winter storm will impact Northern Ohio and Northwestern PA this weekend. Snow begins Saturday evening and continues through Monday, with the heaviest snow and most dangerous travel conditions expected Sunday. Widespread 6-10 inches likely, with some areas over 10 inches.
