@jasonfried Depends on the audience and delivery format. Apple can’t project a document to announce its new iPhone. Also a professor uses decks for teaching recommends textbook for reading at home. Decks are better for a synchronous communication to a bigger audience.

Decks are worse than documents. Far worse.
It's why we don't create decks for internal or external communication at 37signals. Not one. No Powerpoint, Keynote, Slides, whatever. There's no presenting, only communicating.
If we want to communicate an idea, a direction, a concept, or a pitch, we write it up. It can be short, it can be long, but it just needs to be what it just needs to say.
No fancy formatting. No template to choose from. No designer time making anything. Simply words, and sometimes low-fi "as quick as possible" sketches, strung together in a simple, readable top-to-bottom page, not a next/previous/left/right slideshow.
Easy shouldn't be hard.
