I remain steadfast in my support of Ben Roberts-Smith despite news of his arrest today. Ben, his immediate and broader defence family need the Australian people’s support right now and I will not abandon him like so many other politicians. Ben was disgracefully arrested in front of his twin 15 year old girls. He will be held in jail for 7 days. He gets just one bail application. If that application fails, they can hold him for 2 years. AFP and OSI have spent $300 million dollars over 10 years to get to this point.

The Chinese are all to quick to show and tell normally but not with Manono North. There is something happening that has stalled development , just can’t put a clear lens on it

Zijin Mining Group is launching one of the world's largest lithium mines in the Manono region of the DRC, aiming to boost Africa's role in the global battery supply chain. The project is expected to produce about 130,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent per year, potentially accounting for nearly 5% of global lithium output by 2028. A new processing facility will transform about 500,000 tonnes of lithium concentrate annually into lithium sulphate for battery manufacturing. Ownership of the project is split, with Zijin Mining holding just under 55% and the Congolese government maintaining a significant stake to ensure local involvement.

@emil_jens This is all lies being spread by Zijin. Let’s see the proof. Show mining site development. Cominiere broke. Drill holes suggest low grade lithium. Zijin unlikely to proceed to mine Nth section because prelim discovery results poor. Are they actually wanting buyout?

Mine site not developed, Zijin not wanting to continue. Cominiere broke. Zijin spread rumours -great production forecasts but truth is seeking buyout.

@MinMinesRDC You keep talking about responsible management of resources for the benefit of Congolese people but you have done nothing to restore AVZ’s Mining licence as validated by the ICC or to prosecute Celestin Kibeya and Zijin for its corruption in stealing Manono North.

Il a également exprimé la reconnaissance du Gouvernement congolais pour l’engagement constant de l’Union européenne en faveur du développement durable et du renforcement des capacités du secteur minier. Inscrit dans la vision du Président de la République, Son Excellence Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, et dans l’action du Gouvernement dirigé par la Première Ministre Judith Suminwa Tuluka, ce programme vise à renforcer la gouvernance minière à travers une meilleure connaissance du potentiel géologique et une gestion responsable des ressources naturelles. Le lancement de PanAfGeo+ INVEST marque le début d’activités structurantes, dont une seconde étape prévue le 19 mars 2026 avec le « Country Window RDC », dédiée aux travaux de terrain et de laboratoire à l’échelle nationale. Porté par le Service géologique national du Congo (SGN-C), en partenariat avec le BRGM et la « Team Europe », ce programme ambitionne de faire du potentiel géologique de la RDC un levier de croissance durable, en renforçant les chaînes de valeur des minerais critiques et l’attractivité du secteur minier.
