I will never forgive the MPs who participated in the coup against Jeremy Corbyn in 2016. We needed unity after the EU referendum but, instead, most Labour MPs shut down the role of the opposition.
A reminder that Lisa Nandy led Owen Smith’s leadership campaign. #Marr

@AngelaRayner I have great respect for Rebecca Long-Bailey too and am a former voter and constituent of hers. She too represents the best of the new generation of Labour leaders - like Angela, principled, with an inspiring life story and ideals and morals in all the right places.
English

I am supporting @AngelaRayner as next Labour leader, but the concept is right - Labour needs a gritty, resolved, left-wing Northern woman as its next leader. No more North London, Oxbridge aloof characters.

"I'd like to see Rebecca Long-Bailey as leader of the Labour Party." Shadow Justice Secretary Richard Burgon backs the shadow business secretary to be the new leader of the Labour Party. He also tells @SophyRidgeSky that he may run to be deputy Labour leader. #Ridge

@AmuChelengar For some reason Corbin is more popular among Iranian academics than the general population. After three terms, and post Iraq, of course Labour was going to shed votes but GB lost the election
English

@kambizf Labour started shedding votes during those very same Blair years you seem to be nostalgic about. And don't forget the MIliband fudge of 2010-2015. Bad as it was, that leadership was also the first to be fit by media offensives. Remember the bacon incident?
English

@AmuChelengar Gordon Brown showed he had zero EQ and self aggrandizing and managed to lose a winnable situation. Corbin has lost local, national and European elections. I guess the media were owned by the SWP in 1997
English

Guardian is maybe half a step below BBC in the disinformation rankings. Shame on them too. Dosshouse of middle class crassness.
Louis Allday@Louis_Allday
The Guardian publishing this today after it hounded and slandered Corbyn at every turn since he won the leadership election says it all really. It has completed its objective.
English

@kambizf We had the first two in 2010 and 2015. Did they result in a different outcome? Would less Brexit fudging have resulted in a more balanced media, or people who voted Tory in the North saying they had heard Boris being Islamophobe and anti-gay instead of claiming they never did?
English

@AmuChelengar Of course a different leader, a moderate manifesto and less fudging over Brexit plans could have produced a different outcome ...

@TomKoohi It only worked when Tories piled up to help Lib Dems. Funny, no?
English

@TomKoohi The dithering was his own undoing. But the rest was largely fuelled by the media, and of course by the relentless backstabbing within Labour against him which started on 12 September 2015 . Labour has not had a Northern leader for decades. This has to change.
English

@AmuChelengar He failed to inspire, dithered, and went down very badly on a lot of doorsteps. Very few decent options to go for I agree. Emily Thornberry could be a good unity candidate.
