Students from @StMarySchool2 got to play with some new math manipulatives today! The kids had so much fun exploring and the teachers are excited to get the materials into their classrooms! @MathforLove pattern blocks were a favourite!

#countingcollections in grade 1/2. Some topics that emerged: place value, skip counting, expanded form, arrays, patterning, addition, and so much more!

Tried out the new consolidation method from @pgliljedahl and it is a game changer 🙌🏻 Thank you for sharing this with us- this is the missing piece I needed and there is SO much potential in this model #buildingthinkingclassrooms

@NatBanting @pgliljedahl I believe it’s called revised note taking- essentially taking some parts of the note taking but having students complete it with their random group. It makes the consolidation piece so much more meaningful when the task isn’t as divergent.

We loved doing “Esti-mystery” thanks to @SteveWyborney so I translated it to French for my FI Ss. My Ss are now creating their own “esti-mystère” during our “bloc de maths” for the class to solve together. #mathminds #solving @ElizabethParkEl @NLESDCA
