I don’t want a normal working class woman as PM. Being PM is not a normal job for a normal skill set. It demands rare judgement, exceptional resilience and outstanding courage – the ability to make decisions under relentless pressure. An ambitious country should not seek a normal working class lass.


I’d be first to concede that lobby journalism is sometimes too concerned with political soap operas at expense of the substance but does Starmer *seriously* think the press ought to have dialled back on Mandelson to make way for the govt’s zillionth breakfast club press release?
