Prediction: In 5 years there will be some seriously impressive people with @OpenUniversity law degrees at the junior bar. Already a few now.

@EGoldLdn @5SAHLaw @dennishamill77 Thank you for drawing my attention to the BBC v GMC case. The GMC rules have changed since then but it is probably still good law on whether the tribunal is 'exercising the judicial power of the state' for purposes of Contempt of Court Act 1981.

@AmyWoolfson @5SAHLaw @dennishamill77 or - rather, whether the GMC provisions have changed since the 1998 case. That said that GMC tribunals were not courts and did not exercise the power of the state.

@EGoldLdn @5SAHLaw @dennishamill77 I think it is possible, though I am not aware of any case law on the point. E.g. if a party published an unauthorised recording of proceedings, it could be caught by s.9 Contempt of Court Act 1981.

@LawtonEm I can't think of a single sensible reason why chambers would want to know someone's GCSE results. Plus it introduces potential bias - if you did GCSE Latin you probably went to a fee paying school...
