my father was cut from older cloth, where any kind of apology was a sign of weakness - especially with regards to children. parents screw up, it happens. but to apologise to a kid in his mind somehow eroded the fundamental authority he felt he needed in our relationship.

i remember one pic in these books had a mortified guy standing on a high dive board with a huge boner in his speedo on display for everyone to see and i avoided high five boards from then on.

our family friend Dr Willie van Tonder, passed away from Covid 19 in bloemfontein today. all my love and thoughts with his family, Chrisella, Lelani, Chris and all his grandchildren. i can’t imagine what they going through. they were at his bedside and with him at the end. ♥️
