@thisisacesspit I am the business ontology champion on every project. Some clients don't want to know because they think the only measure of success is software in production. By the time they realise the software does not match the business reality, those stakeholders have moved on.

Someone tweeted that the delta between a software developer's understanding of a business process and the reality of that process is a common problem. A far more common delta is between the physical data architecture of software solutions and the taxonomy of the business.

However, very few companies, including big banks, are unaware of this modelling technique and there are not many people who can do it. Result: companies document such complex decision logic as a textual stream of isolated rules...
