@ThePujaTeli Stealing gold from temples and taxing people to death were some of the great things british had done. More famines under british rule than entire history. These were the same lot who used small pox as a tool for christian conversion. Monopolised slave trade and rebranded it.

Isn’t the point on steel because of Tata? And that was a purely Indian enterprise funded entirely by Indian capital? Didn’t the British government initially refuse to support Jamsetji Tata and instead add massive bureaucratic hurdles in his way because they wanted India to buy steel from here in Sheffield? He came here to London to raise capital but was refused. Sir Frederick Upcott, the British chairman of the Indian Railway Board, mocked the project? He said ‘eat every pound of steel rail they succeed in making’ didn’t he? There were restrictions on geological data and licensing? And Britain refused to pledge to buy from him and preferred to import all its steel for railways and infrastructure straight from Sheffield and Middlesbrough? He seemed to persevere despite this. Why did Britain not put faith in Tata? With textiles, isn’t it true that in 1700, India produced roughly 25% of the world’s wealth and dominated global textiles? And by 1947, when the British left, India’s share of the global economy had plummeted to just over 3%? Why did it end up 4th for textiles when it was 1st in 1700?
nigel biggar@NigelBiggar

By 1930 @ivor_bacon India had the 4th largest textile industry in the world, and by 1914 it produced more steel than any other country outside of Europe, N America, and Japan. And all this under British rule,

@JananiSampath_ Manorama and lots of other older female actors have done well. Even the likes of nadhiya and bhagyashree came back from long breaks.

Meenakshi is over 60 now. What has been the last meaningful role given to any female actor of that age in that industry?
The Statesman@TheStatesmanLtd

🎥 | Veteran actress #MeenakshiSeshadri has expressed her desire to return to #Bollywood and take on meaningful roles, joining a growing list of actors seeking comebacks. In a heartfelt video shared on social media, she directly reached out to industry insiders for work, drawing parallels with Actor #NeenaGupta’s earlier appeal. #bollywoodnews #bollywoodupdates #TheStatesman

Reminder: 1. The site of Taj Mahal was the palace of Hindu Raja Jai Singh. 2. There is no mention of any architect's name in any contemporary sources to claim any Iranian architect. 3. The only proof remains is the ingrained names of Hindu workers and their Swastika

Iran In Hyderabad@IraninHyderabad

If Rubio knew the history or architecture, he wouldn't have posed for a picture here. This monument was built out for the love of emperor's Iranian wife, crafted by the genius of Iranian architects — meanwhile his government today threatens to wipe out Iranian civilization, insulting other civilizations.

Dravidam isn’t a mere philosophy but a racialist, casteist & anti-theist ideology built on the baseless Aryan-Dravidian dichotomy, vilification of Brahmins & mockery of Hinduism What damages Tamil identity is trying to eradicate Hinduism which shaped Tamil culture & history
Saravanan Annadurai@saravofcl

Sir I did not have the choice to choose my name 😊. My Granny was responsible for that. We are Tamil speaking proud Indians. Dravidam is our philosophy. We are against discrimination based on birth. We are against imposition which will damage our culture and identity. We are not against anything else.

After the first 12 years of Deng in China, in 1990, China per capita GDP was still less than India. Deng grew per capita GDP by ~6% CAGR in 12 years. Modi has grown per capita GDP by ~5.3% CAGR despite higher base, COVID and democracy. At least check data before criticizing, no?
Priestlyclass Strongman@priestlyclass

Lol even after 12 years, people are still living in such delusions. He is nowhere close to Lee Kuan Yew or Deng Xiaoping, he's more of an accelerationist like Mikhail Gorbachev. Even without democracy, he would still be doing the same bare minimum mediocre stuff.

Unlike Sir Humphrey Appleby, these Indian babu-s lack any form of sophistication so abjectly that they cling to gymkhana membership. Sir Humphrey put his weight behind civilized things at least – Royal Opera House, National Theater and BBC Radio 3.

Prabhu you know generations of bureaucrats since 1947 worked for salaries well below private sector doles. Clubs provided them facilities for sports & reasonable meals. That also insulated them from dependence on moneyed class, which seeks their goodwill.

My article on Mother Teresa was one of my first truly viral articles. Since she is being discussed again, I thought it might be a good idea to reshare it. This was written in 2016, when I was in college. So pardon me if the language is not very refined or is too unpolished.

So you are telling me that the British who used to kill and burn women alive for being "witches" wanted to save women in India from being burnt alive in a practice that hasnt been mentioned in our ved?

A translator, just a translator. > AL-KHWARIZMI was a translator of Hindu Numerals. In 820 CE, he wrote Hisab al-Adad al-Hindi (calculation using Hindu numerals.) > Then Latin scholars translated his works in the 10th–12th centuries, they credited India. > Europeans learned it in Islamic Spain (Al-Andalus) & Sicily as Hindu numerals. > By 15th century, despite knowing the origin, Europe erased “Hindu” & labelled them “Arabic numerals.” Out of their detest to non Abrahamics they gave our credit to Arabs, which Arabs never claimed. > So, Aryabhatta invented zero to calculate how many muslims deserve to live who so steal his invention as Arabs/Muslims.
