@chrischirp @beilinglaoshi @mart_compton @NHSEngland It is madness . I’m in my late fifties . I know quite a few of my peers who have been ill in bed for a week with Covid - so missing work etc . You wd of thought a jab wd be cheaper than the loss in productivy !

Quick thread on current Covid situation in England and Long Covid. I have Thoughts about the Inquiry Report published yesterday but am still trying to organise them. TLDR: high Covid levels remain, Long Covid remains 1/11

If doesn’t seem possible that it’s going to make a radical difference. Assuming that only 2 in 10 children have to drop out of the private sector (which would then cost the state sector 917, 580,000 per year to educate them all) And then assuming the VAT on the remaining children is about 5000 a year each…. You’re looking at being able to spend just £13 a month more per pupil. While you’ve created a situation in which class sizes are harder to reduce, and there are potential unforeseen costs to accommodate more children. And if too many private schools collapse, or more leave than that, the money generated will be even less. If they can make schools significantly better with just £13 a month more per pupil I will eat my hat.

Genuinely if you can’t afford VAT for your kids to attend private school…don’t send them. But to expect your kids to be more important than kids going hungry in schools is the sort of arrogance mixed with ignorance that’s ruining this country. Sounds harsh but it’s true, you’ll blame the parents of kids going hungry but won’t accept your own accountability.

Thank you for all your comments. A sudden improvement in the last 24 hrs and came home this evening. It’s been a long 11 days. The regrouping is also hard but at least we are all home 😊 Ps pls vote the callous party out. It’s our best hope for #carers #disabled #everyone #GTTO

This smiley face is bc she has no idea how unsafe hospital is for a child like her, with a quiet voice and no ability to call for help. That’s why so many #parentcarers and #carers sit by hospital beds exhausted 🙄

After 7 months & 4 cancellations due to staff sickness, finally had my filling done. (Tho they had a nurse off sick today & receptionist was clearly unwell) But have to give a 👏🏻 for 1st apt of of the day & to dentist & nurse for wearing FFP3s and having doors and windows open.

@moneyfornowork @Steven_Swinford Also next age group down (im 57) many have got kids in that age group . Many of my friends have . My kids are both 20. They already do voluntary work but it’s way better if people choose to do it rather than force people to do it .

@moneyfornowork @Steven_Swinford I was thinking just that . It is so ill thought out too. The organisations they wd be joining are short staffed yet suddenly they are expected to train & supervise hundreds of thousands of extras . Would there be a whole year group that doesn’t go to uni ? Mad utterly mad.

@SunderlandLolly I knew what you meant . There are a lot of barriers to voting . So many candidates in London Mayor election here - not happy at all that we’ve regressed and gone first past the post . Hmmm . Can’t think why ......🤔

OMG! Just done my postal vote. I'm pretty sure I'm not thick, but voting is quite hard & complicated 😬!! 3 different elections, 3 different votes, 2 envelopes, putting stuff in a certain way, tear this off, tear that off. I need a lie down 😆. #GTTO #Tories #Suffragettes

Who's the biggest villain of the pandemic? I know it might be considered a controversial nomination, but I'm going to go with the people who pay for the antivax bots.

@SunderlandLolly @1goodtern @Sandyboots2020 @Saffiya_Khan1 That’s the JCVIs “bespoke non standard” cost benefit analysis for you . It ignores long Covid and days lost to work which could include caring for someone vulnerable. They’ve already said autumn 2024 boosters programme will be smaller . It’s a bit messed up IMO.

I've not seen Hannah Waddingham in a lot of roles, but I love her for this:👇 "Hannah Waddingham rebukes photographer who asks her to 'show a little leg'. "Oh my God, you’d never say that to a man, my friend..Don’t be a dick” 😆👌👏 Good on her! theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2…

@AlisonNolan9 @singingsox It’s really mad - in my family a number of us have indicators of hEDS to varying degrees -my niece ( sisters daughter ) who is severely impacted does actually have a diagnosis but had to get it privately .

@singingsox The diagnostic criteria are so gatekeepy. You can basically only get diagnosed if you have a severe case or a relative with a severe case.

@drsimonwilliams @UKHSA I actually don’t have issue with anyone understanding what is being offered & why - it’s just there clearly isn’t the cut through anymore on the @UKHSA position . We are privileged to live in the age of the standard childhood vaccines - yet many don’t seem to realise this .

@drsimonwilliams It’s pretty sad when families are suspicious of something our health authorities deem very safe & effective & choose instead to believe unqualified friends who have done some bad research on the internet. It’s @UKHSA job to reestablish this trust .

#Measles cases are on the rise. Need to better: Understand and address root causes of hesitancy (including misinformation) Improve access especially amongst under-served and minority and vulnerable populations (e.g. low income urban settings, migrant populations etc )
UK Health Security Agency@UKHSA

Latest data show that #measles cases are at their highest levels for a decade in England. 📊gov.uk/government/new… #Measles is a serious illness that spreads very quickly from person to person.

@ianmSC I find it weird that you let this bother you . Lots of different reasons why people choose to mask in whatever scenario - this includes those for whom vaccines don’t work as well. I think people have the right to choose what they do not be bullied by the likes of you

Watching people put on a mask to walk into a store in 2024 is absolutely wild When will they stop doing this? How many more times do they need to get COVID? How many more dozens of boosters before they feel safe?
