I'm throughly enjoying @RavenaGuron upcoming YA thriller, Your Murder Next. Having read all her books, I have to say this is already my favourite at 50% in. Big thanks to @Usborne for this ARC. What are you reading this weekend? Because I'm sure there are some bookworms left...

The girls in the ICE detention centers are pregnant. They weren’t pregnant when they went in. We need DNA samples of every single ICE agent to match who is raping these girls. Why is this not happening?

Israel's attacks on Lebanon have killed over 1,000 people - including 118 children and 40 medical workers. Bombing has destroyed civilian structures such as apartment buildings and bridges, and over a million people have been displaced. Halt arms sales. End the impunity.

OK, I am bored with this lie now. Here are the facts. - Abortion remains illegal after 24 weeks gestation except in certain rare and exceptional circumstances - Supplying pills to terminate a pregnancy remains illegal after 10 weeks gestation - Abortion still requires two doctors' signatures to be performed legally - Women seeking terminations must still meet one of the criteria set out in the 1967 Abortion Act - Forced abortion remains a crime - Anyone, including medical professionals, who helps a woman obtain an abortion outside the law is liable for prosecution. In short, "abortion up to birth" HAS NOT been legalised. What the new law does is prevent women from being criminalised for ending their own pregnancies without medical help - a hugely risky practice that women only do if they are desperate. Parliament recognises that these women need care and support, not draconian punishment. Importantly, the new law also protects women who have suffered late miscarriages or stillbirths from being prosecuted for their loss and potentially spending years in jail for what is a tragedy, not a crime. bills.parliament.uk/publications/5…

@ScottishSuffra1 The fact you're calling yourseld a suffragette yet also align yourself with Catholism is so ironic. Catholicism is one of the most historically oppressive religions towards women. While Muslim women were founding universities, Catholic women were burned to death for reading.

My grandson came home yesterday and told his mum that they had a lesson on muslims, and their religion in school that day. Today, my family decided that as Christians, catholics, and with Jewish relatives as well as women's rights activists aplenty within our family, this was not appropriate, needed, or wanted. Monday, the head teacher will have a complaint she never imagined, she will never forget and will never wish repeated.

If everyone screaming "they've legalised the murder of full term babies" could actually read some heartbreaking stories from mothers who have terminated for medical reasons rather than believing bullshit, that would be great.

@Nigel_Farage Oh you absolute represent the values of people in world wars. But fascism was the side we fought against. Our country has always been secular, and if you truly wanted "a free, independent nation", you'd be celebrating the freedom to practice religion without persecution.

What we witnessed in London at the historic Trafalgar Square, in a country built on Judeo-Christian values, was a group of people attempting dominance over our capital city and our culture. We are not going to surrender everything that was built over centuries and defended at great cost in two world wars for us to be a free, independent nation. The British people will not put up with this any longer — simple as.

@cfdownes_ You look like you've never touched a woman, and you absolutely haven't been pregnant then had to face the heartbreaking decision to terminate for medical reasons. I suggest you read what was actually voted through, and consider shutting the fuck up.

Abortion up to birth is monstrous. It is a symptom of a society that has utterly given up on itself. The Government has just voted to decriminalise it. Restore Britain will reverse that.

@LucyTCWife You keep jabbering "we are a Christian country" - I'd really like to know the extent of your knowledge of the Bible. Which version do you read every day? Which strand of Christianity do you follow? Or are you just using it as a stick? Because God wouldn't like that, Lucy.

I really do not understand this schools closing for Eid malarkey. I actually find it pretty criminal. Why can head teachers not just approve holiday requests of Muslim children? Why close a whole school? The council took me to court because I took my child to Mexico for 2 weeks after Covid. They are always banging on in schools about missed weeks, missed hours. They get on my last nerve. Again one rule for them and another for us minions. Also, my Muslim friends wouldn’t expect a headteacher to close a school for Eid. It’s just another fine example of virtue signalling nonsense. I will say this loud and clear, and I think I speak for the majority. You are welcome to the UK on merit. You are welcome to practise your religion in the privacy of your own home and your place of worship. You are entitled to your beliefs. What you are not entitled to do is come to the UK, a Christian country and expect the UK to change their values to accommodate you. You are not welcome to make our streets into some kind of makeshift mosque. You have plenty of mosques where you can celebrate your religion. You are not welcome to protest the streets week in week out, terrorising anyone that disagrees with your stance on Palestine. It’s not racism, it’s about respect. We should have been stronger as a country and made this clear from the outset.

Why do people with mental (or physical) health vulnerabilities need call essential firm after firm and govt departments too to declare it, needing repeat the same painful, possibly embarrassing explanations. Today @MMHPI is calling for a 'tell us once' system. Here's my quote on why..... "The government has a Tell Us Once system for when someone dies, yet we lack the same for those who are alive and struggling. That makes no sense. We need a single simple system that can work across essential services like banks, energy and water firms, and government systems too – whichever people choose. “Right now, a vulnerable person in the middle of a mental (or physical) health crisis may have to call firm after firm, and government agencies on top, repeating the same painful, possibly embarrassing or triggering explanation again and again. In a digital age where data sharing is simple, that feels almost cruel. “Of course safeguards and informed consent are essential, people must have control of their data. But it is time we stopped focusing on using data to just drive profit and started using it to drive compassion.” Read full info and get details about the underlying research here... moneyandmentalhealth.org/press-release/…
