👏Well done rapporteur @negrescuvictor and shadow Rapporteur @MavridesCostas! Today, we send a strong message to citizens, the 🇪🇺Commission & the 🇪🇺Council: valuable projects that make a real difference in people's lives must be protected! ⚠️Strategic, critical projects funded through the Recovery & Resilience Facility (RRF) would be lost if they cannot be finalized by August 2026. We asked and included in the report the extension of the implementation period beyond the current 2026 deadline, as well as allowing the transfer of ongoing projects to be finalized under other EU funding programs.

We have just now reached an agreement on the #EUbudget2025! After several days of negotiations & a long night, @Europarl_EN, @EUCouncil & @EU_Commission agreed on a budget of 200 billion euro for 2025, +10.5 billion more & +6% bigger than in 2024. As EP @TheProgressives negotiator, I am happy that we achieved increases in education, health, civil protection, research, agriculture, border management, Schengen enlargement, fighting against corruption, social policies & humanitarian aid. In addition, +3 billion euro from cohesion funds will be made available for the countries in CEE affected by the floods.

The @Europarl_EN plenary approved my report on the #EUbudget2025. It is a strong signal of support for my call for a citizens-centered EU budget focused on investments in economic development & improving people's lives. Unfortunately, the disputes between the political groups generated by the alliance btw @EPPGroup & the far-right, against the strong compromises achieved in @EP_Budgets, did not allow us to get a good resolution approved. Luckily, this allows me as @Europarl_EN negotiator to be free to negotiate without constraints the #EUbudget2025. Next step: the negotiations with the @EUCouncil & @EU_Commission.

We led a majority in @EP_Budgets for an EU budget 2025 opposing cuts in key programs, and made sure the EU provides for its citizens! +€ 70m for Erasmus+ +€ 120m for humanitarian aid +€ 42m for protecting people from natural disasters like the floods that hit hard many Member States. All of this on top of the Commission' initial proposal for next year's budget. 👍 Good job @negrescuvictor

The @EP_Budgets approved today my #EUbudget2025 report with the budgetary amendments. A budget of more than 200 billion euros. Additional funds for youth, education, health, research, agriculture, infrastructure, security, defence and humanitarian aid. All of that while financing the #RRF & respecting the #MFF revision priorities. @EUCouncil should listen to our reasonable proposals and stop blocking the EU from acting in the interests of our citizens.

We cannot accept the @EUCouncil proposal to cut the #EUbudget2025 by 1.52 billion euro. This goes against the MFF revision but also against the priorities we agreed upon together at EU level. This also deviates from @Europarl_EU political guidelines & threatens to break the trust in the EU. We need more investments in #policies and #programs to improve people’s lives. We cannot not let citizens down!

Our priorities: disaster management, health, education, farmers, disadvantaged areas, social policies, anticorruption, international action, defense & Schengen.
