It feels like a good time to put the spotlight on our lead artist @HenryTG6!
While he is working within given parameters, he helped shape Ale & Axes Beyond God's Trench to become a browser game that the whole team is really proud of.
So far, he has created over 400+ assets (Enemies, items, buildings, etc.) for the expansion pack, and we can't wait for our community to explore them all.
He also started creating his first animations for our world map, and it's time to showcase one of our favorite animations 👀⚡️
Thank you for being part of this journey, Henry 🎨

⚔️ Arlo, the Unearthing ⚔️
Depth Elite - Enemy Showcase
Leaning against a fungus-covered tunnel wall, Arlo Bloodrose winced as pain shot through his right leg. He hobbled forward until the tunnel opened into a vast chamber. Like everywhere else in this cursed place, it was a tangled maze of decay—a hopeless labyrinth of doom.
With a groan, he resignedly collapsed onto a boulder covered in mushrooms and moss. The battle had been a disaster. He had lost Prince Veron and the rest of their group in a messy clash with the possessed—creatures that should have long been resting in their graves, freed from life's torment. "Poor souls," he thought.
Separated from his comrades by enemies that had suddenly begun appearing in overwhelming numbers, Arlo had fought valiantly. But for every enemy he struck down, two more took its place. When one of the cursed creatures slashed his leg, he was forced to retreat.
Now, something cold and wet crept up his leg, tendrils of mycelium weaving into his flesh. He could feel it—gnawing, consuming. It was insatiable, craving every cell of his body, down to the last.
"This damned, rotten place!" he cursed under his breath. "Why did I ever obey? What would have happened if I’d refused him? Would he really have killed me? No... not even a prince could afford to do that on a whim — to an honored lord of a respected House. I’d simply have made a powerful enemy at court," he thought bitterly, the idea now seeming like a trivial problem compared to his current predicament.
His leg was numb, no longer his own. As he leaned back against the wall, his hand brushed against something uneven. He grabbed it and lifted it to his eyes. His eyes widened in surprise as he took in what he was holding. The Vine Circlet. The very artifact they had come for.
He began laughing uncontrollably. His deep, genuine laughter echoed throughout the chamber and traveled far through the Dungeon’s tunnels.
"What a cruel joke," he muttered, turning the circlet in his hands. "All this for a trinket." With a chuckle, he placed it on his head, completing the absurdity of his fate.
He closed his eyes and calmed himself, breathing quietly. After a while, a faint smile appeared on his face. He saw her before him: a young beauty, impudent and defiant, yet clever, righteous, and always curious. The one being in the world he was proudest of. It broke his heart, knowing he wouldn’t be able to keep the promise he made to her.
Her shape began to blur, and a wave of dizziness washed over him. He could no longer feel anything below his chest.
A low rustling echoed through the chamber. From the shadows of the corridors, shapes began to emerge—all kinds of twisted, fungal creatures inhabiting this place. Their eyes fixed on Arlo. They moved slowly, deliberately, as if drawn by some unseen force. In entire throngs, they came before Arlo, forming a semicircle around him.
Arlo's eyes slowly dimmed, and a final thought crossed his mind: "They’re lined up, as if waiting for some command." His head dropped, lifeless, for a moment. Then, slowly, it rose again, and his eyes ignited—one with a sinister, reddish glow, the other with an eerie, green light.

Web3 Gaming is broken... we'll fix it
The current approach of most Web3 games is often labeled as "The Future of Gaming" while rather being a bad compromise.
Web3 is at the forefront, teams that sell tokens, more Play 2 Earn than actual gaming, and so on.
We'll fix that!
Our approach puts gaming first; it puts the community first. Ale & Axes Beyond God's Trench will strongly focus on one central topic: How can Cardano and Blockchain technology enhance gaming while not hurting the gaming experience?
Gaming first
Our main goal is to have a game that's entertaining and fun to play. We use Blockchain technology to enhance this experience, not to put it at the forefront!
No NFT/token gating
It's important to make the entry barrier as low as possible. Therefore, we will make Ale & Axes Free 2 Play.
Less Pay 2 Win
Once you put certain things on-chain, you allow them to be freely traded, which can often result in strong Pay 2 Win mechanics. We are doing our best to balance that part out.
Community-driven In-Game token
Our main in-game currency is a crypto token, $WYRM. Imagine WoW Gold, but freely tradable.
We are doing it slightly differently than another project, though. Our team does not get fees, shares, or anything else from the token. The only thing we do is provide liquidity in the beginning. $WYRM is for our game and our community, and the community shouldn't fear us dumping our own token on them in the future.
NFTs as the holy grail
We set ourselves the goal that our NFT collection should become the in-game items every player wants to get because they enhance their gaming experience a lot while always being able to sell them again if they don't want them anymore. This is achieved through various mechanics, which we explained in one of our Tavern Talks!
Web3 Non-Gamers
Our game offers a unique opportunity for Web3 community members to join our ecosystem without actively playing the game. This is achieved through both our NFTs and FT being freely tradable.
Soft Crypto Introduction
We are working on mechanics where gamers will use crypto products like a wallet without actively noticing it. We are simply working these products into existing gaming mechanics/flows.
This will give gamers the unique opportunity to get introduced to crypto through a gamified experience, which may spark their interest and onboard them fully into the Cardano community 💯
Final words
The above highlights our main focus points in creating an experience that we think truly deserves the title "The Future of Gaming". We have many more details that go into this, which we'll cover over time in the coming posts/videos.
