@SMcMillan5 @CiaranCaldwell7 Parents obviously gonna milk it for all it’s worth to carve out career for their son! Wrong but I get it. reality is the place they have is at the expense of another lad who maybe does dream of playing for NI. Rules/system needs changed for me! won’t be the last I’m sure!

@AndrewDicksy @CiaranCaldwell7 Because they can do what’s happened with this young lad without sacrificing someone else’s place, and whilst the system stays as is, they’ll continue to use it to their benefit. Responsibility should rest with the player and their family to be transparent earlier IMO.

This wee place produces some talent from both sides of the community punch above our weight in that respect! I’ve no issue whatsoever with a lad choosing to represent ROI has every right to make that choice! But surely it’s not feasible for the IFA to keep doing the FAI’s job 1/3

@mcos72068 Has to be a conversation and decision made much earlier mate if ROI wanna use their resources to develop player and player would prefer to represent them then fair enough. Current situation is nonsense! ROI sit back and benefit from IFA developing players.

For clarification.
When Andy Waterworth was at Glenavon he invited Christopher to try out the IFA pathway at a time when he was already involved with Ireland at youth level.
We respectfully declined an invitation from the IFA to enrol our Son in the JD Academy in 2020.

@CiaranCaldwell7 Agree mate similar levels these days. I’ve no issue with the choice it’s just the use of NI development system right thru getting a move to England then ROI come knocking and they are gone. why don’t ROI show interest or invite these lads into their system much earlier🤷♂️

@AndrewDicksy Many years ago when ROI punched above weight could maybe see the attraction, now it’s a pretty even playing field. Can see from the players perspective at times can be difficult but probably a fine line on who they represent currently.

@Loughy34 I’d love to know where FAI are in all this mate. They are in a position where they can literally allow IFA to develop these lads from the ground up until such times as they are deemed “good enough” or secure a full time move having shown no interest then nab them 😂 it’s crazy

Ultimately to representing NI at senior level. IFA Can’t continue to fund a program that wastes Years of development/Coaching and resources to produce players for ROI. It’s farcical. That’s my two bobs worth on that one gets under my skin a bit 😂

For them churning out player after player only for them to jump ship once they’ve secured full time football in England and the FAI come knocking at 18/19. The decision must be made earlier imo and lads benefiting from the program at the expense of others should be committed 2/3

@Stephen05127196 Genuinely curious….had there ever been contact from FAI program prior? had they watched him? had they invited him down? Did they contribute at all to his development in any way shape or form? How important do you feel the NI development program was for him?
