Appalling news. A Camden anecdote: David Amess twice unexpectedly beat longstanding Camden cllr Julian Fulbrook in Basildon. Julian told me once that after the 83 declaration Amess more or less apologised to him for having beaten him, the highly fancied London lawyer

Very sad to hear. May he rest in peace. One regular image in my mind is Eric standing, hovering at the back of the council chamber, trying to spot what was really going on.
Camden Council@CamdenCouncil

Our sympathies are with the family, friends & everyone who knew & worked with Eric Gordon, founding editor of @NewJournal, who died yesterday. Eric built a newspaper covering every inch of Camden - and its influence goes much further. It is an integral part of Camden's identity.

Johnson had better come up with some better lines on Scotland than he managed on #Marr today

@AliceMHopkin 75% of people in Camden don’t think there is anything to celebrate in Brexit.

Well said Stephen. We should always describe it as the hard Brexit deal. Am worried that some see more of a compromise here than is the case.

The claim by @BorisJohnson that there are "no new non tariff barriers to trade" in the EU Agreement is jaw dropping. The whole purpose of 2000 pages is to create barriers that do not exist today.

@HamishSHunter well Brexit certainly unpopular, support well under 40% now. That shambles might help Lab.

Nice to see a fleeting shot of a young @John_Mills_JML, the former @CamdenLabour councillor, in the second episode of Marr’s New Elizabethans on BBC. Those 1975 sideburns!

If Mr Johnson fails to reach an acceptable trade agreement with the EU the Prime Minister will also have failed the people of the United Kingdom. As a lifelong member of the Conservative Party, I believe that Mr Johnson's position as Prime Minister would be untenable. 1/2

@iancolintaylor @BickhamEdward Agree in part Edward. The EU can deal with bluster (Berlusconi say) as long as there’s not ideological vetos at every summit (like Cameron in 2011). UK combines nationalist bluster with track record of rigid obstructionism to all EU progress (since single market etc)

British belligerence and nationalism are a big disincentive to the EU agreeing a deal.

I stand with millions of Britons that are deeply insulted at the shocking news that the German Chancellor has refused the British Prime Minister’s request for a telephone call. This is an insult to every Briton, whether they support our PM or not.

@Xlibris1 Yes they are. Though comparing a strategic foe like Russia with our closest democratic neighbours really absurd

Should I assume the Remainer twitterers are equally incensed when Royal Navy and RAF intercept Russian naval and aircraft forces and escort them out UK territory. I assume they must be cos' otherwise it's pure hypocrisy - right?
