Three weeks ago I landed in Jamaica, just in time for Beryl. Remarkably, I was able to dive again where I started my career 50 years ago. So much has changed for me and the reefs, but not everything (same snorkel)....

Day 1 of the tour: got to talk about my book on the CBS morning show after spending a delightful evening in NYC watching Suffs (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) and eating some delicious Caribbean food with my editor and collaborative writer.

Massive turnout of UVA students to watch Iowa results? No, to throw snowballs at midnight on the Lawn.

@grobbins @PLNU @Scripps_Ocean Oh yeah, I see the scripps pier temperature dropped a few degrees. Not sure, maybe change in wind direction has turned up the upwelling along the coast.

@AJamesMcCarthy Very cool. Love the different colors. How do you manage a 90-min exposure without any airplanes sneaking into the FOV? I would have also expected to see satellites streaking “against the grain” but the star trails are so clean!

The rotation of Earth visualized as a 90 minute exposure. You can see how the curve of the stars corresponds with their latitude, an easy way to tell we're the ones that are spinning, not them. Stars are also quite colorful!
