@LarryHogan I don't know if this is an appropriate way to ask, but I am an MD resident currently in another state for school. Would me traveling home violate the shelter-in-place order? Thank you so much

@AliAbdaal Hi Ali, I use a lot of evidence based study methods to study efficiently but I'm never actually confident before an exam. Plus I end up feeling lazy because I only ever study ~2-4 hours a day. I always do well but it feels more like luck than competence. Any thoughts?

SUCH a good point! Some people naturally LIKE to lead, some people don’t... but either way it is an intentional skill that can be worked on, like a master craft to be honed. I feel like an onion, & I’m peeling layer after layer of bad habits off & daily working on new skills.

Not going to lie, my favorite part of being back in school may be my ability to read interesting journal articles without worrying about a paywall.

I’m really grateful that I can come home to see my family (including my adorable week old nephew!) for a weekend. And that they encourage me to study on my phone in the back seats of their cars during our several hours of driving.

@PriyaLArun @lilaflavin Maybe it's just the people I happen to be around, but I've experienced almost the exact opposite. Some of the most caring, humble, and down-to-earth people I know are my classmates. Granted, I'm only an MS1, so maybe we're still all pretending to be nice people.

@lilaflavin How toxic the medical school environment can be definitely surprised me. Things I didn't expect: "flex culture," disregard for mental health, unchecked privilege, and general inflexible thinking.

Med students- There are lots of spoken/unspoken msgs to make you feel like your voice doesn’t matter. It’s not true. We need to hear from you! You notice things we don’t. Comment below w/ 1 thing that surprised you most ab med school. We’ll follow you!

I knew this already form my gap year job, but man, SPs are so valuable. I have a long way to go, but their patience and insight have been absolutely needed while I slowly learn how to act and speak like a physician. It's not been intuitive for me so far!

@TSA hello, it'll be my first time traveling with Precheck soon and I'm confused about the electronics screening. I know laptops can stay in my bag, but what about other electronics like Kindle/camera? Thanks!

I am an introvert who feels like I've limited my growth over the years by saying"no". And I'm actively working on doing the things that scare me. I just discovered "The Year of Yes" by @shondarhimes, and it resonates with me. If you're making a similar adventure, I'd recommend it

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in med school so far, it’s that everyone believes that: 1: they are “so behind“ on studying 2:everyone else of smarter than them. Also that winged scapula = long thoracic nerve.

Is there a consensus between Netter's and Moore's Anatomy? I already have Moore's but idk how good it is for Neuro.

How did studying become an effective way to de-stress? Is this my life from now on?

@RetchedSole Have you used a wet persevered cadaver? All the muscles just look like blobs. Great way to learn, but it's hard. (Also thanks, I'm gonna enjoy using the lab to "study" this afternoon)

Is it possible to actually feel prepared for an anatomy practical? 😂 @RetchedSole

I finally did it. I bought USMLE first aid. Now I'm officially an MD student. Catch me in like 20 months when I finally take Step1.
