Catholics concerned about the Pope's charitable letter to Mrs Mullaly...I think the parable of the Good Samaritan and the story of the woman at the well show us what Jesus' attitude would be to a woman considered to be a heretic, an outsider and a disgrace by the strict religious folks.

To their great credit, the US Catholic Bishops and prominent Catholic lay leaders are pushing back forcefully against those who want to spread hostility to Jews and Judaism in the Catholic community. They are standing up for the teachings of the Second Vatican Council, the modern popes, and the Catholic Catechism on the brotherhood of Jews and Christians and the sinfulness of antisemitism. A fine article on this in The Jewish Chronicle. thejc.com/opinion/analys…

@fandompulse LOTR is like many great works of Western literature in becoming part of our popular culture. Silly adaptations are inevitably a part of this.

Christopher Tolkien on the commercialization of The Lord of the Rings: "Tolkien has become a monster, devoured by his popularity and absorbed by the absurdity of the times. The gap that has opened up between the beauty and seriousness of the work, and what it has become, is beyond me. Such a degree of commercialization reduces the aesthetic and philosophical scope of this creation to nothing. I have only one solution left: to turn my head away." Was he right?

The notorious late-term and post-birth abortionist Kermit Gosnell died today in prison. He killed many babies, some shortly before birth, some shortly after. I'm glad that he was finally caught and stopped, but I'm not glad he's dead. He was a human being. He was made in the image of God. Although, tragically, he did not recognize the inherent and inestimable value of human life, his life was of inherent and inestimable value. I hope that in prison he repented of his horrific crimes. And I hope he will be judged mercifully.

@dixietrigger @PaulinusOfTrier Like I said, do your best not to be a gatekeeping creep. Traditional Roman Catholicism is a wonderful thing, more so than you know or can imagine.

@dixietrigger @PaulinusOfTrier At least wait until mass is ended before climbing up on that pew. And don't audibly correct the priest during the homily. And don't creep on the women, especially the fragile, ignorant, and unstable ones. In sum, try to act civil even if you ain't.

@dixietrigger @PaulinusOfTrier It is hard to imagine why any woman, new to a parish, would get upset when some self-appointed and mentally negligible gatekeeper turns a pew into a pulpit and tries to burden her conscience with his opinions.

Except it's never been about just the TLM. A huge issue I've seen having been a trad for 25+ years, is the influx of new people who come to the TLM who do not understand the traditional movement at all. They bring in their Novus Ordo mindset and politics, and it's extremely concerning. Especially the women. In the last 7 years since Covid, our parish has had an influx of these Novus Ordo types who treat the TLM like it's just another mass, but more pretty. Then they get upset when you tell them they shouldn't go to the Novus Ordo, or support Israel or any number of traditionalist positions, and the priests are largely failing to educate new people on the traditional movement.

Protestantism: Religion ordered around keeping the man comfortable in his flesh. Catholicism: Religion ordered around crucifying the flesh so the man can become more like Christ. One feeds appetite. The other forms saints.

@BishopJaxi God forbid a man have steak on a Friday. Fasting is a part of any Christian's life. Just because we don't do it on your schedule doesn't make it any less.

@VermontCrank @PelicanBriefHQ Absolutely. Lumen Gentium clearly teaches that the SSPX and anyone who supports the SSPX will be tormented with hellfire for all eternity. We should all thank God for Lumen Gentium and the men who are faithful to Vatican II.

@PelicanBriefHQ No For over fifty years the SSPX Schism had refused repeated efforts by Popes to bring them back home Lumen Gentium # 14 teaches the SSPXers are going to hell It is the responsibility of the SSPX to get it’s members & supporters to heaven

Bishop Schneider: “It would be a tragedy if the SSPX were completely cut off, and the responsibility for such a division would rest primarily with the Holy See” Do you agree with Bishop Schneider? pelicanquill.com/snippet/61797
