Northern Iowa is still without an assistant coach. With today being the last day before the transfer portal officially opens. I would think we would for sure hear news about Tuttle today or a replacement for him at the very least.

Per sources: Marc Sonnen has agreed to join Kyle Green’s .@UNImbb staff.
Sonnen rejoined the UNI staff this season after 1 year at Minnesota Duluth & 2 years at Drury University.
He previously spent 2 years as a Graduate Assistant & 1 as Video Coordinator at UNI (2019-22).

@Falcubfan You could be correct. I believe in this day and age of college athletics, 20 years of commitment and excellence, deserves, at least, some minimal recognition from the university. But, let’s all excuse the obvious lack of acknowledgment. I simply choose not to.

Watched the UNI press conference announcing Kyle Green as the next head coach of their MBB program. Great guy and coach. Found it interesting the AD didn’t mention Ben Jacobson’s name once in her diatribe. Ben did it with class, dignity & success for 20 years! He deserved better.

The metrics are fine, the optics aren't if they lose. Fine to admit it

@GibbyLowen @MVCHoopsCentral Iowa State and Iowa both won’t do it. It’s just UNI and Drake that want it back. Fans of all teams would support it coming back but unfortunately it doesn’t make sense for ISU and Iowa to play these games based on the metrics used in Men’s CBB

Iowa now has Drake’s old Head Coach. UNI know has Iowa States old Assistant Coach. It’s time to bring back the 4 team Iowa games they used to have every year between the 4 schools. Blow this up and repost so we can make it happen.

RARE: Former UNI Head Coach does a press conference for the local media before heading to Utah State. He is clearly extremely grateful for all of the success they accomplished together. I don't recall many, if any, recent carousel exit pressers, unless it was attached to a game.

@HoopieHighway @Bigmacmurph Ben was the best paid because he's been with the program for 20+ yrs. The other Valley coaches are way less tenured and relatively new. That salary was also funded largely by a few donors and while a couple pockets are deep, we are vastly behind most D1 schools

@Bigmacmurph That’s partially false about the resources, compared to other MVC schools UNI has some of the best resources, Jacobson was also making nearly double what all other coaches were being paid in the valley and they recieve large donations and get lots of donor funds.

My super strong parenting opinion is that while the kids are awake, you come last. No spending all of Saturday golfing. That’s family time. 6 am tee time only, maybe. Wanna go to the gym? Go after the kids go to bed, or wake up at 5. In a few short years, they’ll be out of the house and you’ll have all the time in the world for your own stuff. It’s okay to come last for a while.
